"Two stars because the staff was friendly but only two because when time came to get stuck with the needle, the tech had trouble locating the vein and she dug around and it hurt! If that wasn't bad enough, she tried the other arm and hurt it as well. So I was let go and didn't get to donate blood. I'm not so sure I want to try to donate anymore after this. The thought of the pain in my arms after this experience sends chills down my spine. I'm scarred for life. I won't donate again at any location. May your experience be better than mine."
"I walked in with an appointment to give blood. Because they found old expired 2020 orders from my previous doctor in Texas for therapeudic blood draws, the lady helping me said I needed a letter from the doctor to cancel the “already expired”orders. She also snapped at my wife for helping me do the express check-in on my phone. She was going to give blood too, but since they refused me, we both left and will never go back."
"I have donated blood several times with Ok Blood Institute and always had a good experience. Today my appointment ended up being in one of their mobile units. I would have been fine with the setup, but due to covid I was nervous. Too tight of quarters for me to feel safe. If you would be uncomfortable being in a 3x3' space with a door closed then I'd recommend being sure you are not scheduled at a mobile (trailer) site. Everyone was kind, but feeling nervous."
"I have been donating platelets and plasma at OBI for several years now. The facility can handle other donations types too (whole blood, red cells, et). Being CMV negative they call to let me know when I can next donate. The facilities are very clean/sterile (currently they screen you at the door thanks to Covid), the staff is friendly, and the lounge area is comfortable. While donating they have TVs to capture your attention (though I bring my ereader), and when you are done they have snacks to help you recover. OBI is a non-profit, and you can rest easy knowing that your donation will help those in need here in OK."
"I've been giving blood regularly since my military service. A few years ago, I changed from the Red Cross to OBI because of scheduling conflicts. I've always been impressed with the professionalism that is evident at OBI. The staff is friendly and genuinely seems to appreciate my donation. Their mobile unit comes to Kansas, OK regularily as well and that makes it even easier to give blood every time I am eligible. I've given whole blood, platelets, double reds, and plasma. I've never had an unpleasant experiance. I can highly recommend OBI if you want to give the life-saving gift of blood!"
