Reviews of Red Rock Behavioral Health Services - Children's Crisis Unit
"I was sent here just recently and I got out about 3 or 4 days ago, it was terrible. There are a couple of people here that are actually nice and care but one girl not going to say last name but her name was Maria she was terrible she yelled at us and would get mad at little things we would do she yelled at me twice, once because I supposably broke the HIPPA law and second she yelled at me because she thought I was talking to someone when I wasn't and wouldnt let me explain myself to her and we couldn't open up about what was going on with us to others and then we did groups it was only paperwork that they did on reapet that you could print off on your own but she would talk about how she could make better money somewhere else but chose red rock instead and you couldn't show really any other emotion except happiness and that's it or you would stay longer and I was extended because of lack of communication even though the doctor would spend about 5 min. or less with you and wouldn't really talk herself like I said it kinda helped me but I would recommend another place"
"This place is HORRIBLE. I went here in January of 2022 and it was traumatizing. I’m going to name drop because it needs to be known. One of the workers named Sean or something (skinny old dude with white hair) would open the doors and look in when some of the girls would shower and he would get super close and breathe on us. Maria was nuts and would go on these long rants daily about how we basically chose to be there and how it was our fault that we were mentally ill. James or something like that would scream constantly. The staff made the food theirselves which really weirder me out because it seemed odd and unsanitary. Also my the roof in my room started LEAKING and keep in mind, this was during a literal ice storm. They just moved my bed over and called it good, and it was freezing in the room. I had family therapy and me and my mom both agreed it went well, but apparently the therapist didn’t think so because I guess me and my mom didn’t have an argument? Me and my mom had no issues in the first place. The next day when “the doctor” (they always called her that it was actually creepy) asked me how family therapy went and I said it went well (it did) and she said “that’s not what the therapist said.” And obviously I was confused. I told her that I felt better and that I thought I was ready to go home and she said, “Sweetie, no you don’t.” I was honestly shocked and than she just sent me out of there. By the way, “the doctor” only came for like 30 minutes each day (if that) and sent us out within about 30 seconds. This even happened on my 7th day which I still hadn’t had individual therapy and the therapist FORGOT about me. She literally admitted it to my face. The reason I even saw her in the first place was because I got completely sick of getting absolutely no information and I had to get the only half sane staff member to hunt her down for me because she kept running away every time a kid tried to talk to her. Also I never had a full session with her. This is the time I had with her: 20 minutes where she told me this story about who I was (basically someone with anxiety which I already knew considering I had been diagnosed 2 years before), a few random 10 minute talks about what they were doing with me. That’s it. My parents were trying to get me out but they kept threatening to call DHS or CPS, so they couldn’t get me out. I stayed 2 weeks which is double the time of most people. (7-10 day program btw) They tried to send me to long term because they knew they messed up and had to cover up the reason I stayed so long. Also there was this one girl named Ana that they managed to send to long term because they kept saying that she did and said things that she didn’t actually do. (If you’re reading this, I hope you’re okay now). Also on my 2nd day I had a panic attack, so I went to the quiet room and a staff member came in there and told me to “hurry it up.” Oh and by the way, the group therapy is just a bunch of worksheet things and they do the same ones every 7 days on repeat. There’s so much more I can say, but I’m not going to. Basically if you want your kid to get help, this is not the place to go. They’ll probably get traumatized."
"DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE. Firstly, the staff is rude, demeaning, and clearly does not have the patience to work with children and teenagers. (Aside from Shelly who is a blessing.) Patricia is a nightmare who scolds children to "get out of her office unless it's an emergency." Maria is not gentle in any nature, and Cassidy/Chasidy laughed and rolled her eyes when corrected about a preferred name. The rooms are dirty, (cobwebs and boogers on the frames,) and the bedframes have "hate" "die" "get out" etched onto them. I witnessed a child slam his head onto a table repeatedly while Maria just said "Please stop." The water cups are barely 8oz and you cannot keep the water at your table, I already had a uti prior to my visit and this didn't help at all. Kids are scolded for socializing with others, only allowed 20-30 minutes of outside time, and when Avrin is in charge they do no get free time outside and have to participate in group activities. I only spoke to a therapist twice (once in family therapy) despite asking multiple times, the doctor is apathetic and rushes children, she's told MULTIPLE kids that she didn't believe they weren't suicidal and said quote "You're not very convincing." This only the tip of the iceberg, if you have a choice DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO RED ROCK."
"I was sent here a few years ago, January 2021. When I went in my parents told them I hated being alone. The lady assured them I would have a roommate and I would be okay. Fast forward a bit, I had no roommate. And I was calling my parents crying everyday. I only talked to the therapist a few times and they never made me feel better. One told me if I didnt stop complaining about being alone they would board up my room and I wouldn't get one. And the other one was telling me to break up with my girlfriend and go back to public school. Plus they would never let me take my percripion for eating, so everyday was a nightmare. I watched them pin kids to the floor for being a little rowdy. Over all was a horrible experience and I would never sent my kids here. It's been years since I was there and I still have issues from it. I'm scared to seek help in fear of going back to this place. 0/10"
"On easter 2021 I attempted suicide. I was admitted here the next day. When I got here I has told to shower, and hand over my personal belongings (clothes, shoes, underwear, etc) after that they told my roommate to explain the rules. I was abused ray and night. There were only three staff members who I liked (Eli, and the other two I can’t remember there names) the food was awful our gumbo had BONE CHUNKS in it. Maria and James where the worst. I was SA’d TWICE by staff. I am slightly lactose intolerant and they wouldn’t give me pizza when we had it we were forced to watch the other kids eat it while i got leftovers. I got in trouble for not sleeping with my bra on. We were not allowed to talk about our sexuality’s. We had to wear prison uniforms. I was made to stay for 12 days when the max you can stay is 10. Staff lied about me saying I was going to poison my baby brother. We had 5 minutes to call our parents each day. The “doctor” refused to give me my prescription medication. We were refused water and when we did get it we had to use the same 8oz Styrofoam cup the entire time. I almost Kms twice there. They did not help me at all. The “group therapy” was work sheets from 2005. They blamed all out problems on the internet. DO NOT SEND YOU CHILD HERE EVER UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO HAVE SEVERE PTSD. They laughed at the fact that the water was green and mossy then made us drink it, Maria said “she’s just making stuff up to get out of her room” when I said I was getting a UTI. We weren’t allowed to have our sweatshirts in the bathroom because they didn’t want to wash them, there were a lot of comments about how if we were skinnier we would be happier. We had to watch TED talks, we had to sit in our rooms for hours."
