"Unfortunately, our time spent with L. Ford was not a 5 star experience. I personally searched for a counselor who I thought my son could relate to and who had the credentials to help him with the tools needed to improve his mental health and self esteem. My son met with L. Ford a few times and after each visit, my son revealed to me that his sessions were “decent,” however, he stated that L. Ford is not the kind of counselor that he felt comfortable expressing his feelings with and that L. Ford is more of a “logical response counselor.” Which is no more personable than your child talking to their science or economics teacher. I have also personally spoke with L. Ford prior to him meeting with my son and always got the impression that he was just doing a job, but truly isn’t passionate about “guiding” his clients. It rarely felt personable and more like he was pressed for time and had 10 other mental tasks opened all at once in his head. After the 3rd visit of my son meeting with him, my son felt it was no different than talking to his pediatrician. There was simply no personal connection. ** Prime example, my son actually (recently) saw him out in public and said that he made direct eye contact with L. Ford and that he didn’t even acknowledge nor did he speak to my son. Even after making direct eye contact ?! Yet this was supposed to be my son’s trusted counselor with “hands to guide” him?! The appointment service is absolutely terrible. I had way too many issues trying to schedule an appointment with that office. L. Ford also missed 2 virtual appointments with my son as well as canceled (at the last minute) in-person appointments. After awhile, it begin to feel like my son was just another paycheck for him instead of a person he truly was passionate about “guiding.” I could go on and on, but I know there’s better counselors. We moved on and won’t ever look back. Parents, ask questions and pay attention to the “quality” of service given to your child. I had high hopes based on Larry Ford’s extended credentials but after awhile … that was all a facade. Because his actions (or lack thereof) truly didn’t match his practice"
