Our experience, however, has been deeply troubling and disappointing, raising serious concerns about their expertise and commitment to animal safety. Initially, we sought a professional assessment to determine if our dog had been spayed, as there was no clear indication. Expecting a detailed examination, we were perplexed when the vet hastily suggested she wasn't spayed and recommended surgery. Trustingly, we proceeded, not foreseeing the distressing events ahead. Our dismay was profound when, mid-surgery, we were informed that our dog was already spayed. This shocking revelation underscored a significant lapse in their diagnostic process. The failure to utilize non-invasive methods such as ultrasound or scans – especially for a small, vulnerable 10-pound dog – is alarming. Subjecting her to unnecessary anesthesia posed severe risks, including potentially life-threatening respiratory issues and adverse reactions. Compounding this ordeal was the office staff's dismissive and patronizing attitude. Such condescension and lack of professionalism in a veterinary setting are deeply inappropriate and only added to our frustration. This harrowing experience has caused unnecessary physical and emotional distress for our beloved pet and eroded our trust in Newcastle Animal Hospital. It's disheartening and unacceptable that our small dog was exposed to the dangers of unnecessary surgery and anesthesia due to a lack of thorough evaluation. To the team at Newcastle Animal Hospital: Your approach to veterinary care in this instance was dangerously flawed and deeply disappointing. This incident not only questions your competency but also your commitment to the safest care for vulnerable animals.
