Reviews of Oklahoma Horseshoeing School - OHS
"Went to the school for the 12 week program and ended up only doing three weeks because it was in such rough shape. You wake up sick every day because the dorms are filled with black mold you cannot drink any of the water on campus. It smells like straight iron, the instructors were all young and didn’t know what they were doing except for a few of them All the students in the male dorms just get drunk and party all evening and night. The dorms are nasty and nobody checks in on the kids then when you leave the Instructors will talk bad about you behind your back. they told my friend I would never make it in this field. Well jokes on y’all I’m running a thriving business now and doing great. No, thanks to y’all’s School the owner lives in the Philippines And never messes with any School business. We tried to tell them about the black mold, and they just came in and painted over it while we were in the shop. Needless to say if you’re looking into horseshoeing school stay away from this place there are much better schools around, and it is not worth the money"
"I went to this school for 8 weeks, but instead I was there for 3 week, because the school was not what I thought. I thought they would have older instructors. The instructors now were young, but they knew how to shoe, but they were not good instructors of how to teach and have the students be confident in their craft and figure out their way. I’m dyslexic and was having trouble studying the schooling. We told them how I was in schooling and they said they would help me but when I arrived I didn’t get any help had to study by myself and figure it out myself. The school is nice how it is but it needs better staff to manage it better. The living quarters was nice thankfully I lived with responsible people in the other dorms were trashed and the other students would go wild on the weekends late in night firing firecrackers at each other being drunk, and they have strict rules for the living quarters but no one respects them and the staff does not check on them so much. Environment of the school didn’t feel professional with some of the students and instructors nobody following the rules in the barn while working with the horses. I didn’t feel confident and felt like I was not getting help to reach the level I want to be a horseshoer. When I looked up the school I looked up a YouTube video that was nine years old with Mr. Jack Roth who owns the school. He now lives in the Philippines and is not around the school very much in the school has multiple owners. If you find interest in the school make sure you have your research down before paying them to come. Make sure you know the questions to ask to make sure this is the school is for you."
"Do not mistake the farrier school in Purcell, OK, with Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School; I would have given 0 stars if that was an option. Also, I very seldom, if ever, write reviews. My husband went to this program and drove 10 1/2 hours to discover that this place is a complete joke! The alleged rules that the students are to abide by while at their facility are not implemented or enforced—lots of slobbery/stumbling around drunks are present—shitty housing conditions, injuries to students, and horses. Also, their office staff is incompetent at best, have fun getting a refund! They'll put the money on the wrong credit card; it'll take a week or two to correct their clerical mistakes. If you live out west or would like to attend an excellent program, the farrier program in Cheyenne, WY, is the one for you. My husband has attended Cheyenne’s program and could not be happier with the instructor, facility, horses, experience, etc. While in Cheyenne, my husband met someone else who was at Purcell’s farrier school, they compared notes, and it was the same experience for them. Please don't sell yourself short; it is not worth the money or the drive."
"Awesome school, great instructors, and plenty of horses to get under. If you're willing to work you can get really good at this school. On the other hand if you want to be lazy and coast through you'll have a terrible time and will probably write bad reviews.."
"I want to Thank You for Everything. You did a Great Job Teaching my Grandson. What a great bunch of people. Worth Every penny. There is a well stocked Tools and Supplies for Shoeing."
