Reviews of Uncle Julio's Mexican Restaurant
"The atmosphere and service were nice, though our waiter would forget our requests a couple times. The decor is colourful and modern, they have hip music playing, and the place was very clean and well organised. The manager made rounds before we got our food and was very attentive and friendly. Aside from this, I have to say the food did not stand out to me much. Especially for $81 without tip. Considering we got an á la carte enchilada and two soft tacos without any toppings but meat (and no side), we were charged full meal prices for the tacos ($15) and $5 for a single tiny enchilada. I enjoyed the guacamole… however that portion was $13. When I ordered the large, I expected it to be bigger. Overall, my food was good except I didn’t care much for the green enchilada. At least it was plated pretty!! In conclusion… Not much stood out as far as food and most likely won’t be back due to how outrageously expensive the food is."
"Steak fajita was really good, except that it was a little salty. Our server was attentive and courteous. The manager stopped at our table and checked on us a couple of times too which was nice. All in all, it was a good experience."
"The day after Christmas, staffing shortages are to be expected. And yes, that slowed service down quite a bit. But the staff were still pleasant and friendly in their demeanor, and apologetic about the delays. The manager came to our table (and we saw him go to others) to personally apologize for the delays. Now, getting that part out of the way, the food was excellent, and we had a lovely lunch. My wife had the carnitas frijats that were recommended by our server and found them excellent. I had the shrimp and crab enchiladas and enjoyed them. We tried the desert that was recommended by the manager, and it was delightful. I am not a coconut fan, but the toasted coconut was light and worked well with the pecan brittle that topped the vanilla ice cream. Do recommend."
"We had so much fun! The food was amazing. Everything is made fresh so keep that in mind. This is a slower dining experience, so don't go if you're in a rush. We really enjoyed all of our food. We tried carnitas fajitas, enchiladas, chicken bowl and birrira quesadillas. We also got the churros for dessert, we asked for whipped cream to go with them and that was amazing!! I highly recommended!"
"My wife saw a Facebook post about the Uncle Julio's and their Chocolate Piñata. She showed the post to me. I pretended to be impressed. One of her favorite shows Chopped. She loves all of the cooking shows, so I'm not enjoying seeing posts about restaurants on top of the daily torture I endure. We went to Tulsa today. She suggested eating at Uncle Julio's. Happy wife, something about life. Right? Just kidding. I love her, but I don't get amped up about most restaurants. I agree. She makes reservations. We walk in a few minutes before our reservation time. We were immediately seated. The host took us to a booth. I don't like booths. I politely requested to be seated at a table. No problem. Done. I am terrible with names. I'm so sorry I can't remember my server's name. She had our water, chips and salsa on the table very quickly. There were two salsas. both were very unique. I liked both. One was darker than the other and was a little smoky. I liked both, but I preferred the red salsa. Sooo good! Shortly after we ordered our drinks. I ordered the El Jefe. My wife ordered a draft beer. We enjoyed both. For entrees, I ordered the Chorizo Tacos. My wife ordered an appetizer. She went with the Quesa-Birria. Wow! Both were great! Dessert: We had to have the Chocolate Piñata. You need 6 adults to consume this delusions treat. Bring friends and get one! As we were dining, the assistant general manager noticed that he didn't recognize us. His name is Kevin Becerra. I remember this because he gave us a business card. He checked on us several times. This guy really cares about customer service, employees and the restaurant. That combination is a winner. We will be back."
