"The food was not to my liking, tasted like tv dinner texmex, the servers were great. I got a chili relano, or their interpretation of one. Never had anything like it, not will I again. The guacamole was decent. That's about all I can say."
"They sure are PROUD of their food. The portion sizes are much less than any other mexican restaurant I've ever been to. (First time ever I didn't have leftovers with Fajitas) And more expensive. I also ordered a drink from the happy hour special, and they charged me full price. The small queso is quite small, which is ok, but for $6?! The quality was below average. I ordered steak and chicken fajitas, and the steak was SO chewy. I couldn't even bite thru a piece of it. The chicken was good, though. My wife ordered a chimichanga. She said it was alright. The service was slightly below average. No question how everything was. No refills on water were offered. Overall, 2 main course dishes, 1 drink, 2 waters, and a small quest, over $60, that was the bill with no tip. I don't think I'll be back. (I did leave a tip because I believe the only time there should be no tip is when the service is just awful. It was not aweful)"
"I have fond memories of eating here with my grandparents when I was younger. At that time, I would say it was an average restaurant with average to slightly above average food. I live nearby now, but the reviews within the past few years made me not feel like trying it again. However! Yesterday, I got coupons in the mail and decided to take a chance. I am glad I did! Although it was a take-out order, I could see the place was fairly busy, the inside appeared clean, the staff was nice, and our food was hot and ready to be picked up upon arrival. I had the beef fajita burrito which was huge and smothered in creamy queso. The beef was tender and juicy. Good flavor on the rice and beans. I got a side of chips, guacamole, and salsa and these alone made me believe I will have to dine in next time! Salsa wasn't runny and had a kick to it. The chips are fairly thin, not too greasy, light and crispy. I could do some damage in a basket of those! We also tried the half pound bacon cheeseburger on a jalapeno bun. I was surprised at how delicious a cheeseburger from a Tex-Mex restaurant could be! I was surprised the prices were so competitive and I felt it was a good deal for the amount of food there was. I will be returning to this location soon."
"Waitstaff was great. My plate would melt your hands off. However, my food wasn't hot, just lukewarm. But I tried my friends' plates, and it was all good. Good for a lunch date!"
"This was my time at Monterey's. The food was okay, but I thought it was really expensive. We probably won't be going back. The salsa was pretty good. They have a queso bowl that they say they are famous for and it was $8.99 and hardly any queso."
