Reviews of Black Walnut
"The experience was overall a good one. The food was very good but no SEASONING to what’s so ever just like the top of the food is but not throughout. The waitress was very stale no emotion. We were a large party of 10. So of course we ordered a few things. Timing was good came out together which I see was an issue with other reviews. Baked Chevr, Fried Green Tomatoes, Ponzo Steak, Smokey Mac and cheese balls, oysters. I’m sure it was a few other things we ordered as well. Over $600 tickets for sure."
"Decent. Overall we had a good dinner. Our waitress was great and the atmosphere is good. The price is pretty expensive for the quality you get in my opinion. The portion on some dishes are large so consider sharing especially the various salads. The Bad: Strip Steak (tough, fatty and burnt on one side. The mushroom sauce was way too much it was a huge pile on top) Mac & Cheese Balls (odd tomato sauce on the bottom ruined it. It's just out of place for the dish and you couldn't avoid it. Should be on the side) The Good: Ceasar Brussels, Truffle Fries, Salmon, Mango Sauce, Chicken Lolipops, Oyster (they are tiny though) The Decent: Beat Salad, Beef Rib."
"The ambiance was very nice. Our waiter was accommodating. There was one other patron in the restaurant at the time and we were in no rush . All of our food we ordered was burned and overcooked. The steak was ordered medium and was well-well done. The steak was cut prior to being served so the chef knew it was well done. Again, I ordered medium. I forgot what the fried shrimp and grits was called but there was no shrimp in them. It was a deep fried ball of grits. The jerk chicken lollipops was also burned and the Parmesan sprinkled on top did not hide it. The Ora king salmon was dry and hard. We asked to see the chef but the chef never came out. It’s possible that he became busy. I also Emailed him with pics and never received a response."
"I recently had the pleasure of dining at Black Walnut, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance that set the tone for the evening. The owner, Andrew Black, personally came to our table to welcome us, which instantly made us feel valued and appreciated as guests. His attention to detail and passion for his restaurant was evident in every aspect of our dining experience. It was clear that Chef Black takes great pride in his establishment and wants to ensure that every customer has a memorable time. Our bartender, Brooks, deserves a special mention for his exceptional service and delightful personality. He was not only attentive and knowledgeable, but also incredibly witty, which added an extra layer of enjoyment to our evening. The drink he recommended was hands down the best I've had in a while. The balance of flavors and the craftsmanship that went into creating it was truly impressive. Now, let's talk about the food. Every dish that graced our table was nothing short of perfection. The attention to detail and the use of high-quality ingredients were evident in each bite. From the appetizers to the main courses, every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The chef's culinary skills shone through in every aspect of the meal, leaving us wanting more. What impressed me the most about Black Walnut was the consistency in the quality of the food. Often, restaurants can have standout dishes, but the overall experience may vary. However, at Black Want, every dish we tried was top-notch, leaving no room for disappointment. It's rare to find a restaurant that excels across the board, but Black Want has managed to do just that. Based on my experience, I can confidently say that I will definitely be returning to Black Want in the future. In fact, I am already planning to bring a large group of friends with me on my next visit. The combination of exceptional food, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere make Black Want a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a five-star dining experience. If you're looking for a restaurant that goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience, look no further than Black Want. Chef Black and his team have created something truly special, and I can't wait to see what they have in store for the future."
"My husband and I tried this place for dinner and were very pleased. We started with the Burgundy mushroom and it was so good. My husband got the Ora King Salmon and it was perfectly seared and the flavor was spot on. I got the New Zealand rack of lamb and it was amazingly tender and so flavorful. We were just too full for desserts. The service was great as well. Portia (not sure if I spelled that right) was our waitress and she was really good and very helpful with her suggestions. We look forward to going back and trying some of the other dishes that they have. The prices were fair for the quality that you get. The atmosphere was nice and unique, it is small and quaint and modern in design. Would highly recommend and we will be back!"
