Reviews of Griffin Memorial Hospital
"My significant other was put inpatient at this facility about a week ago now and I still haven't heard an update on how he is doing. I am his power of attorney due to his medical issues that he has along with his mental health concerns. Me as the significant I would like to know how how part of my every day life/family is doing. This is unusual activity for him not to call me at all while he is in a hospital. I have no clue what is going on or what has happened to him. I wouldn't refer anyone to this facility anymore! This is so horrible worrying to death that you don't know how your loved one is doing with treatment."
"Don't recommend unless you have no other options. I still think about the trauma I went through at this faculty. At the most vulnerable point in my life. One of my first days a guy ran at a group of us girls naked hallucinating. Then made it to the women's unit where he was tackled again naked. I did not feel safe as a SA victim. It took them days to finally move him. I witnessed multiple fights which were really triggering to me. I was also hit accidentally by being too close to someone that decided they wanted to fight someone right next to me. Not once did I received therapy. I was given a social worker who I only spoke to once. I was given a load of meds. There were some amazing techs that did really care. others who said “remember why your in here”. The women passing the meds also lied about giving me my birth control and showed me the book that said I got it. Which I know some people forget, but it was my first day I knew I didn't take it because I was bleeding heavily and I have pcos and pcs. so I was having terrible cramps we were only allowed to use pads. there is no schedules to encourage patients. The food is cold and i had hair in mine. The heater is old and doesn't work well. i was freezing the entire time. there's little to no funding in this place so it explains, but doesn't make it okay. i decided to write this this review, because one of the friends I made while in this facility lost there battle recently. I can't help but think the system failed."
"This place helped me so much. I finally got diagnosed accurately, and put on medication that actually helps me so much! I loved the staff, and the doctors were also very nice. I met some cool patients as well, but of course that's the one down side is you will be around some angry and unpredictable patients. I got along with pretty much everyone personally. Definitely recommend this place if you're struggling with mental health! They are all so nice and patient!"
"My son is in that hospital. I called a couple of days ago and the lady that answered the phone said he had been released. That was a total lie and I went into a whole panic state. I called all family members to see if they new anything and nobody else knew that he was released. I was ready to jump in my car and go there and start looking for my son. My son has been mentally challenged since he was 17. He has a family that loves him and is very concerned. I had my husband call up there and actually got a hold of my son. I was so happy to know my son wasn’t out on the street somewhere. That was a terrible thing for someone to say to me."
"Thank the staff. Oh my God they above and beyond for patients. Go if need help. It's respite care. No different than the outside, you must desire to change in a place of rest. Thank you for overhauling me. So much trauma and unhappiness fell off. It was the deepest depression of five years. Meds finally work. All my best, in my prayers, in recovery, thank you Griffin, thank you google, thank you youtube, thank you god, thank you for helping me out of trauma so I can live again. Attached are pictures of the last year. Every happy meme. A picture from the the 90s to me today. And when Griffin memorial hospital met me I looked like hell. The beautician had to talk me into a haircut even a style. Major depression is so cruel I didn't know I needed a hair do, or overhaul, I didn't know how sad I was until I met Oklahoma. The are outlets I value online are at youtube. If you go here your life will change for the better: YouTube school of life, medcircle, psych to go, teal swan, Ralph Smart all uplifting resources. I did not know I needed so much help. Thank you medicaid. Thank you dear Staff. Please follow up with the central community mental health center. Please give a open ear to messages you don't want to hear. Dsyrelgated adults make a dsyrelgated world more difficult. If we friend what's wrong with our lives or issue, it becomes a friend no longer a problem You can heal and manage life better. I believe in you. Friend til the end cause there is no end to adhering to a care plan. We are all in the same boat. Recovery and mgmt. Something I've adopted is if it can injure or hinder any detail of the care plan do not do it. A serious part of my hospitalization was dad hitting himself and begging for death. He began hitting himself in 2016 after mom died in 2015. Dad died last month. Im bumping along remembering mom and dad are at peace. Today dad can see and walk he was blind and paralyzed from a surgery error in 2014. Thickest trauma bond. I'm year seven of therapy and still learning ABC's. Thank you for being there for thousands of people. Here are the pictures I could send because I'm alive today. And I keep smiling because dad can see today and he and mom are at peace."
