Norton's BBQ & Cafe

"I travel a lot for work and was craving some BBQ for dinner tonight. I seek out local spots for most of my meals on the road. So tonight i filtered through some of the bbq chains, local and national, within a short drive from my hotel. When I found this place with the highest ratings of any BBQ restaurants nearby, I was sold. The outside of the place was unassuming. When I walked in to order I knew I was in the right spot. I could smell the BBQ the moment I walked in the door. There was a short line ahead of me that moved quickly. I was greeted with a smile. I opted for a 2 meat plate with ribs and brisket. I took my order to go and, even with a 15 minute drive, when I got back to my hotel room the food was still nice and warm. The ribs and brisket were nice and tender. The BBQ sauce has a slight sweet taste to it to start and just the right amount of spice. The hush puppies and Mac and cheese were delicious. The Texas toast was also packaged in its own sleeve which seemed to keep the temp as well. Thanks for a delicious meal Norton’s! I hope work brings me back through so I can visit you all again."

"I love this little mom and pop shop! Locally owned. Great food. So far everything I've tried is good: catfish, brisket, greens (collard or turnip?), okra, burger. Yum! Usually spend $11.00 per person. More if you get a drink."

"Great little spot! Friendly service and quick turn around on a large take-out order. Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Ribs were all tender and juicy! Catfish was just the right combination of crispy outside and soft, firm fish. Nice to find a place that serves proper classic greens! Everything was well seasoned and nothing was over or under-done."

"Really wanted to like this place after reading the reviews. Let me start with the good.. They lady that took my order was really pleasant, the service was good and the restaurant was clean. The sides ordered were steak fries/greens and they tasted very good. Now the not so good.. Portion sizes were small for the $22 cost of one meal, especially the sides and pickles/onions. My biggest complaint was the brisket. It was tough, dry, small portion and had no flavor. The ribs were tender, but they lacked flavor as well. Everything seemed to be cooked in electric smoker, which is fine, but resulted in little smoke flavor. Overall the experience wasn’t that bad, but was expecting more for the cost of $22. I understand meat prices are high, but there are better options in the city at these prices."
