Dove School of Discovery

"Both of my kids attended Discovery a couple of years ago. The academia compared to TPS is above state standards. Some of the teachers are insensitive to children with different personalities or "special needs", and they can be quite arrogant about it. Staff needed overhaul on building conducive relationships with their students. Some of the teachers are from Turkey, so it took my kids a while to get used to the accent and understand the communication of any given subject. The building was in need of upgrades, but the inside appearance was always kept clean looking. Overall, the majority of the staff seemed invested in the education of their students and very friendly."

"This school has let me and my daughter down. They do not protect your child from anything that is wrong. The Dean is a joke (Mrs. Fletcher) she will never solve problems with kids who are being bullied and verbally abused. My daughter has to deal with this everyday. The teachers see it and won't report it. But once she said something back to this bully then she gets kicked out or bullied more by Mrs. Fletcher. So Beware! Shawn Anderson (the Bully) runs this school."

"The first two years we're excellent for my children. We entered a lottery of children and my two made the selection list. This year I have noticed a huge decline is student productivity, teacher/parent interaction and increased violence among students. I have also noticed that the teacher turnover is ridicously high. I know that oklahoma isn't the best state for teacher salaries but I've seen good teachers leave here after one or two years. The administration seems to take a reactive approach to things instead of getting out in front of situations. The educational cirriculm is good, but I'm not sure how well the teachers communicate with the students. I doubt if my children will be attending this school next year."

"This school is filled with adult bullies, not only did they keep the majority of my children's school supplies this year when I removed them from the school. They also bullied my oldest son into having suicidal ideations at the school. The dean of students will especially bully your children at this school. They are not allowed to think for themselves and must answer their questions as they see fit or they will continue interrogating your child. Teachers will also make comments to your children such as "I always win" Should never be a verbal power struggle with a child. This school is filled with unprofessional individuals. I do not recommend this school for anyone. Not one person in this school is held accountable for their negative actions/attitudes towards the children. Horrible, horrible school."

"the administration has not demonstrated the "student-teacher-parent triad" along with "mutual support of parents, students, school personnel, and the community" to be part of their core values and mission statements. many competent and dedicated teachers have been let go with out notice or explanation while teachers who can not be understood by parents and students alike are allowed to continue teaching in core subjects like math and science."
