"If your child is on the autism spectrum/Gifted/Intense/2e, tread carefully. They are not trained in the most basic sense for this, not even an easily accessible Googled sources. They prefer to cater to neurotypicals, casting out your child after the first day, even when their sensory overload is overwhelmed (i.e. interruptions, unsure of their environment because they ARE on the spectrum/2e, Gifted/intense) and they *will not* give you a second chance. You *will not* be given an option either, they are booted out like they committed a wrongdoing, all for something they CANNOT help. They also quickly and effortless informed me there is not a single class for my child, to insure I would never return-very important to note. Even the teacher that my child had for one whole hour, - yes you read that right- ONE hour- they judged her after 1 hour- even that teacher called it "the boring class." What kind of expectations are you going to set up when you call your class that from the get-go? There is nothing on their site to warn you just in case your child isn't the "right type" of AS/Gifted/Intense/2e student. I did make that suggestion, a kindness so the center could avoid damaging self-esteem of children deemed "too different" by their "normal" standards and frustration of parents in the future. They were also extraordinary surprised that my gifted/intense child had been in a regular classroom environment, winning academic awards for the last 5 years. There is nothing surprising about that, my child needs a little time to adapt and boom they're fine, teachers are fine. As the typical Christian ideal goes, Patience is a virtue! My poor child cannot understand why they were "expelled" VERY damaging to self worth and self esteem that I've had to address to heal so unless you want the same to happen to your vivacious gifted child, best look elsewhere. Edit: Oh! My child did take another 1 hour class, same subject at another homeschool co-op and did wonderful! It was interesting, engaging, and my kid had a blast. I didn't hear a single thing from that teacher. My kid said they would have been bored at the other class anyway, as it was the "boring" class. So maybe things worked out for the best, with its odd dress code that reeks of misogyny. Just says my kid said, "Even Jesus would have given me a second chance. " Hmm. Given the Christian vibes of this place, I'd say that is food for thought."
"This is a great place to supplement your homeschool. Lots of options for classes and there are a ton of kids for your kids to make friends. There is an outside play area. Volunteer opportunities are available to get a discount on tuition."
"We try to attend every fall and spring. We feel safe. The people, volunteers, and teachers bring a living sense of community."
"The Omaha Learning is a great place to build community, learn fun subjects and meet friends. We have been attending the Learning center for 4 years and we only have great things to say. Jack and Holly are truly amazing and do a fantastic job at running it. We are so thankful to have this resource in Omaha. We have made great friends through the learning center."
