Reviews of Midwest Gastrointestinal Associates PC
"As the designated driver for a friend having a procedure, I was encouraging him to not get there too early before check in time. He insisted on arriving early which turned out to be a good decision! He stood at the counter waiting to be acknowledged when finally an unfriendly person asked for paperwork etc and then could not find his file. She then announced we were at the wrong clinic. My friend showed her that the paperwork instructed to arrive at the Indian Hills clinic. She said, “not the first time this has happened!” No apology or friendliness to someone who had prepped for a procedure. Not acceptable! We were then sent to the Lakeside clinic. CHECK TO MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU START THE PREP that they are sending you to the right clinic. And if this has happened before than FIX IT! And get your staff some customer service training!"
"The scheduling person was very short with me. Like she was being put out doing her job. Wasn't going to schedule until after April, insisting they were booked until then. I reiterated that the clinic wanting the colonoscopy done said it had to be done in a specific time frame After asking who my Dr was, suddenly she found an available time within the next 2 weeks. My appointment was today. Not once during scheduling or the following 2 calls I received confirming my information, and the appointment, was I told that there were things I couldn't bro prior, or needed to do prior to the appointment. My husband took off work to go with me as the required family member/driver. The person at check in did not ask if I had done the required prior to the appointment even though she asked about paperwork which I also did not receive in the mail to fill out prior. Sat there after the paperwork was done for another 40 min before check in part 2. Wasn't asked about any pre required being done. Waited another half hour before being called back with the nurse..she asked , About which I don't know until she asked if it was done or not. The appointment has to be rescheduled I called the number given by the nurse. After being put on hold twice I hung up!"
"I could not have had a better experience. They got me in as soon as possible, and were very thorough when explaining the prep and procedure process. I had to call several times with prep questions and they were very helpful. I will say when you call it can be hard to get through, but they always returned my call soon. Once I checked in my wait was very short before they took me back and prepped for my procedure. My nurse Claire was OUTSTANDING. Explained everything to me and was so kind and comforting. Mike and Dr. Pearson were also amazing. This process was so quick and painless thanks to their amazing staff."
"Have been here before- great experience and nurses. Came with my mom to drop her off, and front desk people were very nice- just would appreciate them acknowledging people right when they come up to the counter, as she was confused and most people are likely a little nervous. They’ll wait happily as long as they know they’re in the right place."
"Once my procedure started, the professionals -- nurses and doctors -- were fine. I wouldn't use the term "outstanding," but I felt they were at least competent. But getting to the point of the procedures was challenging and frustrating, and that is being kind. The infrastructure surrounding setting the procedures up, communicating with patients, and basic business operations was horrific. Getting a human being on the line is often possible. When voice mails are left, they are either not returned, or not followed up in a timely manner. The patient is left flapping in the wind. The process leading to the procedures are reminiscent of a cattle call; one has the sense that they are number, one of hundreds or thousands. Those who answer the phone and greet patients are particularly culpable. Their tone is robotic. There was no sense of being greeted warmly with smiles, kindness, or compassion. At best, the process was clinical. Glazed eyes, a sing-songy tone that screams, "I really don't want to be here, and I don't like my job," is what we experienced. Scheduling was a challenge. I wanted to have the procedure closer to my home, but for a variety of reasons, that was not possible. Finding a way to slot me in was difficult; I ended up with an afternoon appointment, not the morning, which was my first choice. Midwest G.I. is sorely in need of a customer service professional to advise these folks on how to best care for patients. To those in a decision-making capacity; consider paying employees more and/or hiring additional people. It's glaringly obvious that the organization is understaffed and probably overworked. It's costing you revenue. Because of unprofessional processes leading to procedures, I'm sure I'm not the only patient that will do everything possible to avoid this organization in the future. My wife feels exactly as I do, and experienced the same issues with her procedure."
