"The staff at the front desk was very helpful but after seeing another dentist and him say all of my recent fillings need redone I won't be back I feel the care for Medicaid patient's could be better"
"Dr. westohal was kind and professional and took care of my issue. I would recommend without hesitation he extended such grace to me and I was sooo very comfortable in his office. His assistant is of the same incredible stature. ... However Crystal, the receptionist.. Is extremely judgemental and rude without cause. I am on medicaid due to being a victim of a homicidal attack and disabled. I have a lady who helps me out on a daily basis (caregiver)because Im paralyzed on my left side from a gunshot wound to the right side of my head. Crystal was very discriminatory and said even tho she can get me in on an emergency basis (a week after my call) this does NOT mean I'll be accepted as a patient and that my daily assistant MUST be with me the entire appointment. (As if I'm an out of control animal that needs to be babysat because of my Medicaid status) Inferred but not said. However, regardless of my severe traumatic brain injury and disabilities. I am of sound mind, this hurt my feelings and gave me anxiety up until the day of my appointment. The walk of life that I come from,my upbringing, my educational and busines background are a reflection of who I am as a whole person, not my current economic status. Up until 3 years ago I guarantee I was earning 8 times as much as a front desk receptionist People are NOT the amount of money they make . To judge a human based on financial circumstances is NOT proper behavior or even classy. Assumptions are hurtful and in poor taste. I would say the other poor reviews on here are due to the front desk receptionists communication and DEFINITELY NOT a representation of the doctor or the rest of the office..Who are just of the utmost professional and kind demeanor. It's perplexing how someone so uncompassionate and quite frankly rude is part of the staff. She had her friendly , smiling and professional moments upon arriving and leaving. crystal certainly needs a course in proper phone manners as she's damaging the reputation of this professional practice with her attitude and making up of her own patient rules and who and who will not be a patient or even get a call back is incredulous I won't get into what was said and done by her as this is a review for the business not a trial a trial about the receptionist. 10 /10 recommend this business without a doubt just don't mind the abrasive phone manners of the receptionist. In person she's quite friendly. (Maybe because I showed up for my appointment, bathed, proper and not in wild animal form as was inferred to be expected due to me having Medicaid insurance . Haha."
"I required extraction of a broken molar and its replacement with an implant, but Medicaid did not cover implants. I had to find a dentist who could perform the extraction under Medicaid and charge me out-of-pocket for the implant. I found Dr. Mark Westphal. Initially, I informed the dentist that my grandmother was willing to pay for what Medicaid did not cover. They took 3D X-rays, which were costly, but Medicaid covered it. After an initial exam, the dentist believed that he might be able to save the tooth. The dental assistant put a metal band around it, hoping that the bone would grow back enough to support a partial cap. He wanted me to return in six months. When I returned, nothing had improved, but they filled the band as a temporary fix. The dentist asked me to return in another month. When I did return, there was still no improvement, and the tooth felt infirm. Lastly, he wanted to see me in an additional two months. This time, they did not even offer to fill the band, and the dentist saw me for less than a minute. I visited Mark several times for this work, but unfortunately almost a year later, there was no progress. Meanwhile, the bone density around the roots had significantly decreased. During this period, I also had a filling replaced in another tooth. The dentist did not suggest a most likely needed root-canal, he just "worked it over" and the sensitivity became worse than ever. I feel that I am being treated unfairly because I am on Medicaid, despite informing the dentist that I can pay for an implant. I am unsure what my Medicaid has been charged for the minimal work done. I would like to know the amount for these brief visits and how long the dentist intends to drag this out. I feel dismissed and subparly treated because of my economic status. The receptionist is cold and discriminatory, as she never looks me in the eye and does not ask what day suits me; instead, she prints an appointment card. Dr. Westphal did not offer to clean my teeth or give me a proper exam to check for other issues, even though it's quite obvious that my gums are receding. The dentist only provided patchwork solutions. On the other hand, the dental assistant was always friendly and professional answering all my questions to the best of her ability. She has a bright future as a dentist elsewhere. After seeing many 1-star reviews, it's no surprise there are others who feel like I do. Something is off, and I sense a deeper issue at hand. Therefore, I went to an actual oral surgeon who x-rayed and knew immediately that the tooth needed to be pulled due to significant bone loss and decay from the initial infection. In fact, my sinus lining was too low for any hope of getting an implant without extensive surgery. I gladly paid $1500 to this reputable Christian oral surgeon, and now I am waiting for the gums to heal and the bone graft to succeed in replenishing the upper area for regrowth strong enough to sustain an implant, albeit unlikely. I would highly advise against visiting Mark Westphal for your dental needs and instead go to someone reputable."
"DO NOT GO HERE! The front desk securtary is beyond rude. Very unprofressional and makes snide comments at every possible moment. They will ban you if you try and defend your self. I had 8 teeth fixed here and all 8 teeth had to be removed by other dentists. I wish i could rate 0 stars for the treatment i recieved through them. I ended up getting sinus infections from the low quality novacain they use. And was jabbed very abbrasively everytime. Save yourself from unneccisary sicknesses and rude staff!"
"They are way overpriced compared to the surrounding dentist. The communication between the dentist and the patient is non existent. The dentist is very Abrasive. Any time I would ask any questions about anything the front desk would give me the run around and never answer my question fully. I had a cleaning done and they saw me for 10 minutes, I wouldn't even call it A cleaning I can brush my teeth better than they cleaned my teeth. I also had to filling done. My filling fell out within 24 hours I had to go to another dentist to get it fixed. It was also painful because the doctor couldn't numb me right. They saw my children for their check ups and I will say the doctor just put his head in the door and said your good. Then left. What you pay for is not what you get. I would not recommend this place."
