The vision for Ballyneal was born from the passion of local golf enthusiast Jim O’Neal, who saw the potential in the sand dunes near Holyoke. These dunes, known as the “chop hills,” reminded Jim of the iconic dunes found in Ireland and Scotland where golf originated.

"One of the top links courses in the country. Even with cool weather, we had a great day. The course has many forgiving spots as you play your round. I was pleasantly surprised many times. Love it."
"Made reservations several weeks in advance for the Mother’s Day brunch. Called the day before and was told by the restaurant manager that she had no record of our reservation because I apparently made it with he concierge, who failed to pass along the info. I explained that I was not pleased about it and she promptly reminded me that it was “a private club” and implied that the matters of peasants did not have merit. Needless to say, I will never attempt to patronize the restaurant again, and I will do more than just spread the word about the snotty attitude this manager had toward me."
"Excellent food obviously they have a chef in house. Everything tasted fresh. Just the right amount of options. The decor rustic yet elegant. We came here as part of a Christmas party. We are so excited to find such an elegant establishment within driving distance of home. We will be back."
"Had our company Christmas party there this evening and loved the place. The staff was awesome. Food was good. Drinks were great. Love the atmosphere. Lived in the Holyoke area for nine years and had never been or seen the place before. The parking area and driveway coming off the county road could use some light pretty dark in the hills. Overall a great experience and can't wait for next year's event."
