Reviews of The Lakes Apartments
"I lived at The Lakes Apartment for 3 years and it was a great place to stay in Albuquerque. The office staff was always so kind and helpful especially Nikki who got me into the exact apartment I wanted with a balcony. They’re always improving things, when I changed into my apartment with a balcony they had just installed new carpet and cabinets, the parking lot was redone and improved office. I would still be there if work didn’t take me to a different area."
"This place is an absolute hidden gem. I have nothing but good things to say about this apartment complex. Hidden away from the busy main ABQ roads, the Lakes is a super quaint and comfortable place to live. The grounds are beautiful, there are tons of amenities, constant security, grounds keepers etc. Nikki and the rest of the leasing team is amazing to work with. If you need anything or have in questions they’re happy to help. The apartments themselves are super comfortable. Appliances are replaced between residents, and things rarely break. I love living here!"
"I absolutely love the lakes apartments they've treated us so good. It's always well maintained, clean, and overall, just a great experience. Maintance is professional, awesome always there when you need them. The office ladies are wonderful. If I can rate this a 10 I absolutely would. Such a beautiful place."
"The Lakes apartments are the nicest apartments I’ve lived in! The staff/management is extremely friendly and helpful, they truly care for us residents. The management always comes up with activities for us to do and have a super friendly neighborhood. I’ve never seen anything like it, they also add a nice monthly news letter which is nice. This past month my bday came and the office was nice enough to send a letter wishing me a happy birthday, never have I seen that from an apartment complex. The apartments are affordable and nice inside, laundry facility is always clean and big with plenty of washers/dryers. Pools are awesome. Tennis court and basketball court are the best! I love it here and I’m sure you will too."
"I resided at the Lakes for exactly two years (Sep 2017- Sep 2019) as a single undergrad student attending UNM. When searching for the most ideal apartment, this place was able to meet most of my criteria: it was affordable, centrally located, and just far enough from the main campus to allow me an escape from the whole college atmosphere. That said, my experience wasn't at all bad while living here. I rented out the smallest single bedroom apartment available, which was still around 625 square ft; more than enough room for a single person with little furniture. Plus, I loved the 13 -14ft high ceilings that came with living on the third story. The grounds, laundry, and main office facilities were all very well kept and did much to embellish a nearly forty-year-old low-income apartment complex. Though I had little interaction with them during my stay, the office staff was always very polite, patient, and willing to help me with any problems I had concerning my apartment. This was especially true on two separate occasions when my refrigerator(s) broke and had to be quickly replaced during the sweltering summer months. Rent and leasing rates/lengths are fair in terms of their reasonability. One of the things I always appreciated about The Lakes was that once the initial lease was up (can be a short as six months) you were offered a choice to either renew the original agreement or pay a little extra to go month-to-moth. I choose that latter and always appreciated the greater sense of freedom that came with it. Drawbacks here were few but included things like a malfunctioning elevator which was never repaired, a high frequency of water shutoffs, and a minor bug presence. The last of which may sound alarming but with proper control can be managed. For every forty-year-old apartment complex is going to have this issue. Though, not entirely their fault, I feel that the management should perhaps look into hiring a different pest control company to spray their grounds. When my bug problem was getting out of hand during my first autumn living here, the pesticide used by the contracted help did nothing to improve my situation. It wasn't until after taking a few drastic measures myself that I was finally able to eliminate the pest problem. In all, The Lakes remains a better than average place to hang your hat. Unless working in the far Northwest, the location here can be beaten. The facility may be old, but it's both well built and maintained. Residential parties are also featured for some of the more festive holidays and great for keeping a certain sense of community together."
