La Cantera Apartments

"I deliver Meals on Wheels there and the concrete steps on both outside stairways are all cracked. There is broken yellow caution tape on one of the stairwells that has been there for months."

"My aunt lived there. While I feel the surrounding area was a safe area, the apartments were getting really run down. All the roofs leak with the walkways falling in. No one is even trying to fix them. If you are in with the office and loss their ego they are nice to you, otherwise you wait for maintenance or help... if you ever get it. Her garbage disposal never worked the whole 2 years she lived there. I dont think the rent is reasonable for seniors. I will say there are some really nice wonderful people who live there. She made some great friendships."

"Yes I have a lot to say about this complex for one my mother lives there she’s been trying to get a lower apartment but it seems that they are giving it to people that are just coming in. Another thing is they charge $900 for this place which is supposed to be for the elderly they do not have enough elevators and they do not have any ramps for these old people to get up on the sidewalk. I give this a bad review nothing gets done but they sure want their money well I think they should go ahead and do stuff around the place that is helpful to the elderly"

"Whew! I'm GLAD I dodged a bullet by NOT moving into these apartments! We originally wanted a one bedroom. I guess now they have a long waiting list for those. So, I stopped by and took a tour of the property and was shown a two bedroom instead. What I noticed was a lot of paint chipping from the ceilings. Leaks maybe? There appears to be a very weak drainage system" especially after a hard rain because there were miniature "lakes" that we kept stepping in throughout the property. By the time the tour was over,my shoes were SOAKED. I could tell that this place has seen better days. We decided not to move in. GSL has better properties in other parts of town. "We did not have a good experience while living there. The ceiling leaked and we were on the third floor! They put up sandbags in all the halls because the drainage was bad after every rainfall. There was a bad rainstorm one evening and roof leaked (for the third time) and shorted out our alarm system. They were extremely slow in repairing all the leaks because other places were worse. Then we had problems with the cooling system, which is not top priority. When I called the manager, he told me to re-set the refrigerated air system and wait 5 minutes. So I did exactly what he said. Waited the 5 minutes--no change. I called him back but low and behold it was after office hours and NO ONE answered. He never called me back or stopped over to our apartment. We were on the same floor as the manager. Then when we moved out, he said we would get our deposit back because we were good tennants and had bought a new house. He said that since we were leaving because we bought a new house, he would not charge us the fee for leaving 1 month early. Well he misled me again! Don't rent from LaCantera! It is a nightmare there."
