"My experience was terrible! During my consultation with a new prescriber for psychiatric meds [Avery Kennedy] made me feel overwhelmed by her aggressive energy and lack of empathy. She seemed dismissive of my struggles with anxiety, restlessness, and depression, and was quick to question my bipolar diagnosis. Despite my attempts to explain my symptoms and experiences, she focused more on taking notes and looking at her computer screen than engaging with me. When I opened up about my trauma, she offered little comfort and seemed indifferent to my emotional distress. Additionally, her remarks about my cultural background and her condescending attitude towards my therapist of 5 years further eroded my trust in her. She questioned the effectiveness of my current medication regimen, despite my insistence that it has helped stabilize my mood. Her lack of interest in exploring the possibility of ADHD, despite her specialization, was particularly disappointing. Overall, the appointment left me feeling confused and invalidated, and I left the office questioning the validity of my mental health struggles. I believe it's essential for healthcare providers to approach their patients with empathy, respect, and a willingness to listen, qualities that were sorely lacking in this encounter. (keep in mind I was only there to establish care in case I wanted to change dosis)"
"I, personally, did not have a good experience with administration and the process of becoming a client. I think getting an evaluation or even signing up for counseling services here may be difficult for someone actively struggling with mental issues. If you are thinking of getting an evaluation at this location for ADHD or other challenges, call them before your PCP sends a referral to see how they would like the referral worded and what else they need from you. The referral will have to be stated a certain way or they won’t help you at all. The administrator actually chuckled when he read my referral, and it made me feel stupid for even trying to get help this late in my life. Their voices are not supportive nor empathetic, and the process is surprisingly a lot of work. I think office administration should make the process of getting help easier and clearer upfront. I waited at least 5 months for my appointment before finding out I wasn’t a candidate for an evaluation. The office administration does not like to apologize, take responsibility for anything at all, or offer much support through their process. The customer service aspect of business just wasn’t there for me."
"I attempted to get an ADHD test from GD Psych Services in Albuquerque/Rio Rancho and had a terrible experience. They made me wait for 7 months for an appointment, then gave me a bunch of personality screeners (no cognitive tests) and decided that I did not qualify for further screening. The personality tests were grueling and energy draining, and attempting to get them to work with me was only possible with extensive help; no one with untreated ADHD and no support network would have been able to get through their process. I've now managed to get a diagnosis from an actual competent doctor who did an actual cognitive test on me and am in the process of getting treatment. I wanted to warn other New Mexicans against using this clinic."
"Disgraceful Priorities: Money Over Mental Health I would like to start by saying the therapist assigned to me was amazing... As someone deeply committed to serving in both Law Enforcement and the Military with multiple overseas deployments, I understand the challenges of balancing responsibilities. Unfortunately, my recent experience with GD Psych Services, LLC has left me utterly disillusioned. Despite seeking support for my mental well-being, the company chose to prioritize profits over the needs of those who serve our communities and country. Their decision to drop me as a patient due to "too many cancellations" speaks volumes about their lack of empathy and understanding of the unique demands placed on individuals in Law Enforcement and the Military. These cancellations were not by choice, but rather a result of mandatory police training, work shifts, and military orders - obligations integral to my duty to protect and serve. All necessary in keeping the community safe. Instead of showing compassion and flexibility, GD Psych Services, LLC callously opted to prioritize their bottom line. It's appalling that a company supposedly dedicated to mental health would turn their back on someone in need simply because it inconveniences their schedule or impacts their profit margins. I urge anyone considering seeking support from GD Psych Services, LLC to think twice. Their actions speak louder than their words, revealing a disturbing lack of commitment to their stated mission of providing mental health care to those in need. Until they prioritize the well-being of their patients over their own financial interests, they have lost my trust and respect. Response Title: Response to GD Psych Services, LLC As much as I appreciate your response, it's disheartening to see GD Psych Services, LLC attempt to justify their decision based on a rigid policy rather than genuine compassion for those who serve. While I commend your dedication to supporting the community, including military and first responders, it's clear that your actions do not align with your words. Three cancellations were not a result of negligence or indifference on my part, but rather unavoidable circumstances inherent to my roles in law enforcement and the military. These cancellations were directly tied to mandatory police training, work shifts, and military orders, all of which are essential to ensuring the safety and security of our communities and country. Your assertion that this decision was not financially motivated is difficult to reconcile with the reality that dropping a patient for "too many cancellations" ultimately serves to maximize your capacity for new clients and maintain profitability. While extending services to as many individuals as possible is admirable, it should not come at the expense of abandoning those who are already in need of support. I stand by my review and urge others to carefully consider whether GD Psych Services, LLC truly prioritizes the well-being of their patients. As for your offer of recommendations for other providers, I will seek support from organizations that demonstrate a genuine commitment to understanding and accommodating the unique challenges faced by individuals in law enforcement and the military."
"I called to schedule a consultation appointment for my father. It was fast and easy. When we arrived we were treated with respect and kindness. Lisa was patient and caring with my father and made him feel comfortable. The atmosphere was calm and inviting and they had a sliding scale fee for anyone who needed it. I highly recommend this practice to everyone! Mental health is important!"
