Reviews of The Mine Shaft Tavern & Cantina
"Enjoyed a local favorite, Hatch pepper burger. Paired nicely with a local beer. Great place to watch people come and go. Looks like a great place for music."
"Wife had the shroom burger. I built a bacon cheese burger with local Wagyu beef from options. Both were excellent. The fries and sweet potato fries were also good. Nice vibe inside. Service friendly and efficient. This could easily have been just a tourist trap so it was a pleasant surprise."
"So this place is worth the detour. Great atmosphere and this burger is one of the best I have had in a long while. The folks inside were very nice and relaxed. It seems this place is sort of a gathering point for the community. The town is very touristy with lots of cool shops, but be careful on which days you go. These stores close on certain days."
"Came for the sat afternoon live music in the Cantina & ordered the curry mussels special. I don't think of the high desert as a haven for seafood but found the dish satisfying. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't come w/ rice to soak up the bountiful amount of curry sauce but it did come w/Texas toast & once I crushed the mussels I asked if they had a side of rice available. They did & it came fast, before It was too cold. The music helped set the ambiance as I chatted w/friendly locals & gazed out the wall of widows that overlook the mountain side in this scenic little community. 2 full bars w/food available & a stage in the tavern downstairs w/the musicians setting up in the corner of the Cantina upstairs. Nice no nonsense bartenders allowed me to charge my phone & use WiFi. No dogs unfortunately (service animals only). Overall a good experience."
"Quirky and historic tavern and eatery. Dimly lit and period decorated, they have the feel of an old mining town. The paintings above the bar are worth a gander. The Chile Burger is very tasty, I recommend the local Wagyu. Good selection of local beers as well. Service was a bit slow but still friendly."
