Reviews of Life Change Psychotherapy Institute
"On a 6 month waiting list before I could see someone. If I was suicidal I may not have made it. My therapist was a good listener but after 6 sessions she was showing me to the door. I never received any sort of guidance for "life change". What did change was I completed payment of my insurance deductible. Now it's a new year and my deductible begins again and I begin again to seek help elsewhere. A year and $400 wasted...I guess in fairness to her, I did begin our first session expressing my doubts that she could help me. I just didn't think she'd end up agreeing with me."
"I miss you Kristen!! There is no one like you, here in California. You were such a blessing in my life when I needed you most. Thank you again!"
"I'm sure the reviews are limited because not many people want you to know that they are in therapy. But therapy shouldn't carry that stigma. Seeking help and talking to someone is a very beautiful thing. You will look forward to visiting this building. It looks like any other building in Albuquerque, but when you enter into the safety of the courtyard garden, the beautiful fountain is there to great you every time. There are birds and a windchime and that is a calming way to start any interaction. The staff are calm and lovely, there is tea available in the comfortable lobby, and every room has beautiful arched windows to sit by while you chat with your therapist."
"Trying to get in touch with them was not exactly easy. No one seems to be able to return phone calls in a timely manner. Secondly, the 'office' is like a compound, and you need a 'code' to enter at the front door. And lastly but most important: when I finally was able to speak to the receptionist face to face (wonder of all wonders: I actually got a code! LOL), she was far from pleasant. She kept pressing me to reveal to her the issues I wanted to see Dr. Patricia McKenna about. The receptionist asked me if this was a drug and alcohol issue because "Dr. McKenna doesn't do those" and "Dr. McKenna works mostly with couples" and " Dr. McKenna will be calling you to see if it's a 'good fit'" (obviously to see if it's a good fit for her -- who cares if it's a good fit for me, right?). I finally gave the receptionist a general overview of what I wanted to see Dr. McKenna about -- even though there was another patient in the waiting room, and I had to talk in front of the patient. She also impressed on me -- TWICE -- that Dr. McKenna has "a LONG waiting list" and that, usually, by the time a prospective patient gets to the top of the list, the prospective patient has "moved on". Since I'm not in crisis, I find all this somewhat amusing -- and SO unprofessional. And snowballs have a better chance in Hell before I'll ever see ANY therapist at this place."
"Made an appointment for today. I was called to confirm a week ahead, but missed it because I was at work. I've tried calling back every day since, and even called because I couldn't get in. They can't answer phones but definitely can call you and make you feel bad for "missing" your appointment."
