Reviews of Animal Humane New Mexico
"Immediately, I was greeted with a warm "hello, how may we help you today?" I mentioned that I was looking for a new best friend and just like that the staff helped in every way possible. It was a very clean, welcoming facility. I was impressed with how professional and caring everyone was to all of the animals as well as to me. I was certainly nervous, and they assured me that this will be an exciting experience. Within a few hours, my new bestie (Shadow) and I were out the door to explore new adventures together! The staff also gave me a folder filled with additional resources like classes and contacts related to veterinary care and wellness. Now, 5 days in with my new pooch (Shadow), I know in my heart we are a perfect match. My only hope is that Shadow feels the same! It all started with Animal Humane and their amazing hard-working staff! Thank you all! -Reed Page of Albuquerque NM"
"Awesome experience! I found the newest family member here. This is the cleanest and nicest facility I've seen. The staff were totally awesome and accommodating."
"Westside Animal Humane was so wonderful. First of all, upon entering I was enlightened to the fact that Animal Humane is not the same as the City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department. They are privately owned, and they are a no-kill shelter. They only had a few cats to visit, but they let me take all the time I wanted to visit with the two 6-month-old black kittens that I ended up adopting. The workers were super polite and informative. We arrived sometime after 3:00 and spent at least an hour visiting the kittens. By the time the adoption was finished, it was closing time (6:00 pm), but we never felt rushed. Craig (or Gregg?), the associate that helped us through the whole process, was very kind and gave us lots of good information. He did not try to coerce us to adopt the kittens, nor did he try to influence our decision in any way. I was very pleasantly surprised at the adoption fee. $30 for each kitten! And that's because they had already hit the 6-month mark. They're only $75 each if they're under 6 months old. Many agencies charge $100 - $200 per pet. If you want two, that's pricey. Animal Humane provides all the vaccinations, spay/neutering, and even enables you to have one free vet visit with a good selection of Vets in the area. Now, about the goofy, adorable kittens. They are a bit shy, but after a few days, they were following me around the whole house like I was their mommy. They're still reticent to be held, but they are becoming a little more comfortable in our household each day. They keep each other company (they are brothers) and rough and tumble all over the house. One minute they are sleeping together or grooming each other, and the next they are throwing down. It's quite hilarious. If you have no pets, I would urge you to go to the Animal Humane and adopt one or two cats (or dogs). Adopting two is nice because when I cannot give them attention, or when I'm away from home, they have each other. This was the best pet adoption experience ever I've had."
"Thank you for having compassion for my cat OREO. Oreo had cancer and he was so loyal he did not want to pass the staff their helped me and my mom grieve Oreo was 28years old we miss him so much. It was a special day and I'm so thankful to animal lovers."
"I adopted this sweet girl from animal humane and she's absolutely adorable. The staff was so helpful. They provide a lot of good information for you to take home with you, including information about health care options for your new pet. There are a lot of adorable dogs and cats that need homes. If you're thinking about adopting, go here and find your new best friend."
