Reviews
"This is a terrible school. My child attended all three years and I'll always regret it. It greatly affected my child's learning and readiness for high school. I know the principal and some staff were replaced but for the most part the teachers needed an overhaul as well. Teachers do not care about their students or their learning. Meetings are completely useless and a waste of time, if the teachers show up at all. If your child has any struggles in school this is not the place for you. We were told at a meeting they had no concerns if the kids could spell or read, it wasn't a big concern, because everything had spell check! Each teacher that attended agreed and they were actually serious! There were a very small handful of teachers that actually knew what their job was and took it seriously but that handful doesn't make a big enough dent to make a difference. The Dean was a nightmare to work with and extremely rude and unprofessional. My child fell at school and ripped the knee to his pants and was put in in-house suspension. No chance to call for a new pair or a warning. Also bullying goes unpunished or expect both the bully and the bullied to be punished together. Overall terrible experience and talking with other parents over the years, past and current, no one knows how this school gets good ratings."
"Would never send my child here after how badly the staff treated her. They have a circus in this school and the staff are worse than the children."
"The teachers aren't even wanting to teach us. they are not dedicated to their job or their students! They are very disrespectful and get on mine and my classmate's nervs. It gets really annoying and i would advise you NOT to send your child to this school. The dress code is HORRIBLE! You basically wear the same exact clothes you wore the previous day, and every little slip you make you get a "Raptor Reminder" and to many of the "Raptors" leads to lunch detention or a thing called "T.I.P.S" I wish i never went to this school and my family moved to Jamaica like we said we would, but instead, i said no and we stayed here so i could attend James Monroe with my friends. still... DO NOT EVER SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!"
"Yeah, I like learning and being with my peers, but it also SUCKS here. I wish we could have teachers who are dedicated to work here for at least the whole school year. Example: Eighth Grade Science Teacher Ms. Groves left after two months, but we had tons of substitutes even when she was working there. Another thing I wish could change is the dress code. Can't a shirt that doesn't have any inappropriate logos be good enough? I find it absolutely ridiculous that we have to basically wear the same thing every. Single. Day. I walk to school every morning, and walk home every day, yet I need a walking pass at the end of the day to leave the campus. Walking wise, I live five minutes away and i have to use it? Dumb. I know some kids that actually live right there, exactly next to the campus, yet they need a walking pass!? That's a stupid idea! I don't know, but the rules at this school are dumb and strict. Even I wish I went to a different school because my eighth grade experience sucks."
"The school itself is good but the dress code is stupid and they hire the WORST SUBS EVER!! I recommend this school for people who think uptight teachers are good for your education. But seriously if you end up going here take art because mr.geoff is the best teacher is the school."
