Conservatory of Dance

The Conservatory of Dance, located at 2020 Cottage San Road in Silver City, New Mexico, is entering its 16th season and is excited to present "Alice in Wonderland" as its spring production in May 2024. Under the direction of Melissa, who has over 40 years of dance teaching experience, the institution aims to provide quality dance training in a non-competitive, family-friendly environment. Classes are age-appropriate and taught professionally, with a focus on developing well-rounded individuals who excel in dance and beyond.

The institution offers a wide range of classes for students aged 24 months through adult, with a core curriculum in ballet complemented by other dance forms such as jazz and tap. Pointe classes are available with instructor approval, while special classes and workshops on various dance-related topics are offered throughout the year.

The health and safety of dancers, families, and staff are top priorities, with adherence to CDC guidelines and protocols. Tuition is based on a 4-week month, with discounts available for multiple classes. Studio II Dancerwear, located on-site, offers a full line of dancewear and supplies at reasonable prices.

The institution also hosts an annual production open to all students, with auditions for solo and specialty parts. Rehearsals are held on Saturday afternoons, with performances typically taking place at the WNMU Fine Arts Center Theatre.
