Reviews of Lovelace Medical Group Southwest Medical Associates
"Let me tell you a story... I was forced to make the switch to Lovelace, and leave a doctor of 6 years at Pres, who I had a terrific rapport with. Assigned to a practitioner at Lovelace who they knew was leaving the clinic the next week, but didn't tell me. She was good- gave me referrals for a couple of concerns, and new prescriptions to replace the ones from my former doctor at Pres. Alas, she did leave, and I was re-assigned to another doctor on staff. Haven't been able to get in with her yet, but have an appointment scheduled the earliest I could, all the way out until June this year. I followed the policies and rules they have in place, and called about one of the medications that can't be stopped on a whim, early Friday morning. Had plenty to last me until the 48 hour period was over, plus one more. Expected a call back within 48 hours, as stated on their website and other collateral. Staff ignores phone messages and emails through MyChart. Had to spend an hour one day, 30 minutes on a call the next, then make a personal trip across town to speak to somebody who isn't just a go-between/answering service. Nurse who came out to meet with me after a lengthy wait reluctantly listened halfheartedly and with a contemptuous look on her face. Claimed I lied to them about when I initially called in, until I was able to prove the date on MyChart and showed her my phone. Claims they refill prescriptions and answer messages within 48 hours (published on their website), then moves the goalpost to 72 when you complain about it after they miss the deadline. Cried about being understaffed as their excuse- that's not the patients' problem and it shouldn't be brought to us- that's an issue with the Administration. After we finished our conversation, I went to the Men's room, which is connected directly to the lobby, where I could hear a very unprofessional conversation about me being held. I wasn't loud, rude, or irate with any of their personnel- unsure why this was warranted. Asked if they had needed me for some reason because I could hear their remarks. I despise that I was forced to switch to Lovelace from Pres for to insurance issues. They're no picnic to deal with either, but they are much better than this unprofessional clown show."
"My husband and I had Doctor Rodriguez-Lugo and my mother-in-law had doctor Mamsa. These doctors did not care what we were going through. They just wanted to prescribe pills and then see us back again in two plus months if that. They would call back the day before the next meeting and say they needed to reschedule for the next three months and then call again, after waiting for that three months and reschedule again. My mother-in-law needs air and that Dr.Mamsa could not get the prescription right. They talked about that for a year and still never got that right. My mother-in-law also has a bad shoulder and never could get Dr. Mamsa to understand the pain she was going through. I don't know how the other doctors are there but these two aren't worth seeing. I wish I didn't have to give them 1 star."
"The worst experience I've ever had with a PCP. I recently moved to Abq from out of state and was setting up a new PCP. When I arrived the front desk staff is just rude for no reason. I get back to the room a young lady comes in to gather info and take my vitals, she asks me if I have any medical history I need to talk to the doctor about. When I replied that I have a few medical issues I was told to only pick one because I only get 15 minutes with the doctor. I picked my thyroid issues as it has been totally removed and I require medication daily. Apparently the one choice I picked the doctor chose not to listen to a word I said because after visiting they recommended I start a new medication at a dose of 50 MCG's......... it's a med I've been taking for 3 years at a dose of 125 mcg's. When I called back to explain they were going to have the doctor reach out to me to fix it. That was 4 months ago I still have no medication called in, I'm down to my very last pill, they never return calls. I finally got a real person last week, here my pcp left the practice and no one bothered to let patients know. It will take until August to set up a new appt. They assured me they would call in a bridge gap refill on my medication that I still don't have. Stay far far away from this practice they don't care at all."
"I wanted to set up a pcp since I just moved here. After being checked in and waiting 20 mins past my appointment time even though there was no patients waiting. The lady who took my vitals told me the primary care doctor I would be seeing doesn’t prescribe medication. I asked if all the doctors in the facility were the same. She said no but they wouldnt be able to change the doctor since I was scheduled to see that specific doctor but the doctor may be able to ask a nurse practioner to prescribe me medication if needed. I waited over one hour and the doctor still didnt come into the room. So I asked what was going on and they just said the doctor still hasnt come back from lunch. So I left and no one seemed to care."
