"I was more than excited to try Los Pookies, but found the experience below expectations. The seating was very limited and we had to sit side by side by the window. I had ordered the birria tacos and queso fundido. Wife had ordered combination fajitas, but got steak fajitas in error. My rating is based on the following: 1. Waitress offered me a refill on the horchata, but never provided me a refill. 2. Queso fundido was not like pictured/described, but instead a large glob of mozzarella like cheese with NO chorizo(burnt cheese on top). 3. Waitress was inattentive and never asked about food, but looked at us funny as we complained about the food. Gave me funny look at checkout. 4. Birria tacos tasted like straight pot roast with pot roast juice as consume(not good). 5. The horchata was tasty so gave + 1 star as the only thing pleasant. Overall, poor quality service and food. I would not recommend at this time."
"Absolutely unreal food, had my mouth watering and the loaded fries made my nose run! The birria tacos were very cheesey and juicy. The service was quick and the people are friendly. The atmosphere immediately felt very cozy."
"You have to try the Birria Pizza, it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten! Christopher was our server and he was excellent! Will have to go back to try the churro cheesecake!!"
"This was a quick lunch so yesterday, because my partner wanted something spicy and we were right around the corner. The inside is very cute. I absolutely loved that each chair was wrapped up with a ribbon. It made me smile. My partner got a chicken enchilada and a cheese enchilada. He loves enchiladas, but he pointed out that a lot of enchiladas run the risk of having boiled chicken inside of them. He said that he could tell they actually seasoned the chicken in the enchiladas here. He was very impressed. I got the fries because who doesn't love loaded fries? The flavor was almost TOO good. Whatever combo of sauces they used were a treat! Great service and wonderful food. I would definitely come back here!"
"Place looks filthy, walls all slimed with stains, the floor full of food, no one consistently sweeps between customers. Tons of flies inside. Kitchen is open so you can see people not wearing hair nets or hats. Some people preparing food with gloves which usually tells you they aren’t washing their gloves(Hands) for cross contamination. The kitchen looked like a mess, not organized or clean looking at all. Atmosphere is terrible for dine in. There’s 3 tables and 2 bar type tables. People are all around you standing in line to pay and pick up when you’re sitting in a table. Pretty uncomfortable. The staff seems related since they act too comfortable in there with a bunch of friends behind the register hanging out. The staff members had a car meet for their car club there today so they were ignoring the customers and kept going in and out of the store to be with their friends. Meanwhile took 20 minutes to get our drinks. They forgot our appetizers, they didn’t have several menu items available. Took about 35 minutes to get served. Kids menu is limited to chicken nuggets or quesadilla. Only pro was the food was tasty but all the issues ruined the experience. The restaurant has potential with good management. They are probably use to running a food truck which is a different ball game than an actual restaurant. I owned and operated successful restaurants in the past in other major cities so that’s where my insight is coming from. Good luck"
