Reviews of Nexus Blue Smokehouse
"Wow! Such a great find! This is our first time in New Mexico and didn't realize the barbecue was so good! Service was great and the place is very cute."
"Had to try some BBQ while i was visiting and this place fit the bill. We got the platter for 2 but swapped out the chicken for burnt ends. We also got beans, coleslaw, collard greens, and fried pickles. This was my first time trying collard greens(i know?!). They were freaking amazing. The fried pickles were nice and light. The coleslaw was our least favorite, kind of dry imo. The beans were pretty good as well. The burnt ends were fantastic, next time I'm gonna order just those lol. The pulled pork I wasn't a big fan of as it tasted kinda bland. They use oak and a mixture of some other hard woods they said, but oak provides a mild smoke flavor. That being said you arent into heavily smoked flavoring you will love this place. The ribs were pretty good and tender, they still had a little bite to them and didn't fall off the bone(falling off the bone=bad). The sausage was fantastic and i loved that as well. Brisket was solid, had a nice smoke ring and was pretty juicy. Last but not least the pork belly burnt ends. They were super good, i have made these plenty of times but haven't seen them on too many menus. The fat was rendered really well so everything was tender and juicy. The service was fantastic, the waitresses were really friendly and it was easy to get a conversation going with them and hear their thoughts on the food. Overall this place is a solid 4.5 and I am really happy that we found it. Thanks guys!"
"We got takeout from here on our last night in Albuquerque, which was a bummer because we didn't have time to eat our leftovers! I love a good brisket, and this one def hit the mark. Smoky and lean with some fat on the outside for flavour. Burnt ends were excellent. The ribs were a tad overdone, but they still had amazing flavour. LOVED the collards and the fries. The smoky baked beans were also excellent and dang it, we could only eat one container between the two of us :( Cobbler not pictured because it was kinda ugly in the takeout container, but it tasted great, and as my dad used to say, it looks worse in your stomach. Fairly close to Old Town where we were staying, so this was a 10/10 experience."
"Very cool spot for music and bbq. I came here to see a buddy's band and it's a great little venture to enjoy music over a few beers and food. The atmosphere is open and casual, kind of a corrugated metal and wood feel. I ordered the creme ale which was great. Very smooth, light hops, easy drinking. I also got the frito pie with brisket burnt ends and red Chile. This was very tasty but I'd go easier on the lettuce and the beans. Their red chile is moderately spicy, like a 5/10, and has a peppery note. Not bad at all. The burnt ends were sweet and fatty, very nice. I look forward to coming back for more music and a more BBQ forward plate. Come check it out for yourself!"
"Just ok. Our order was prepared on time and packed up nicely. But none of the containers were full - disappointing, especially for the Mac and cheese! Most of our food was good, but the brisket was unpleasantly fatty and not especially flavorful. Perhaps dining in is the way to go next time."
