"We stopped in around 10:30am on a Thursday for “brunch”, having missed breakfast, on our way to Santa Fe. We didnt know anything about The Range Cafe, but from the moment we stepped in and smelled the coffee, I knew we were in my kind of place. The decor is eclectic and features art from local artists. So fun and exciting to peruse the ad hoc collections. The food was delicious. Being from Texas and used to hot and spicy Huevos Rancheros, but this flavor with the “Christmas” smothered was transcendental…so sublime and lovely..not heavy and powerful like i was used to in Tejas! My wife had the breakfast burrito…with “Christmas” on the side. She too was delighted with the tastiness of dish. We took desserts to go, but had to eat half of the ApplePinionChile Fold Over. It was so good…i never knew how well green chile could work with apples. Amazing! Come for the food and the atmosphere and you will not be disappointed. We loaded up on desserts to go, and of this writing have not tried the Brownie or Green Chile Apple Pie yet, but i think they will be devoured during our picnic later on today! Thank you Range Cafe!"
"The Range Cafe in downtown Bernalillo has long been a local favorite on account of a menu featuring hearty diner favorites like country fried steak and gravy, and zesty New Mexican classics like Chile Rellenos and Huevos Rancheros. Most of all, though, it's the genial, welcoming staff: no matter how busy they get, you'll never feel rushed; stopping in at The Range always feels a little like coming home. This visit, my wife and I started out with Rey's Nachos, a giant, confetti-colored mesa constructed of black beans, tender shredded chicken, crumbled white cheddar cheese and Mexican cojita, with chile con queso, freshly chopped guacamole and pico de gallo, fresh lettuce, chopped tomato, and blue & white corn chips, the whole thing laced with a lightly seasoned smoked chile crema. The best nachos in the universe. For supper she ordered the Country Fried Steak, a Route 66 classic consisting of a succulent breaded fried cutlet smothered in savory cream gravy, served with homemade mashed potatoes (with soft, buttery chunks of potato, which is how you know it's homemade), accompanied by a delicious side dish of yellow squash sautéed with fresh corn and onions. Her only complaint was that there was too much food. I had The Range's signature Plato Combinación del Rancho, which consisted of a blue corn chile relleno, two rolled lean beef blue corn enchiladas, one chicken taco dressed with smoked chile crema; savory pinto beans, twin moats of red and green chile ("Christmas"), the whole thing topped with melted white cheddar, and accompanied by a mouth-watering mound of arroz verde ("green rice"), an aromatic side dish consisting of basmati rice cooked with parsley, cilantro, spinach flakes, olive oil, garlic and scallions. I'll never eat plain rice again. My only complaint is that I couldn't possibly eat all that food. But that's a good problem to have. Two sets of entushiastic thumbs up!"
"Yummy and huge servings. We stopped in before a day of running errands and had a great breakfast. Had to get a to go box there was so much food. We also got a slice of Death by Lemon to go. Had it later and it was superb. The service was great, the staff is very friendly. We’ve eaten here several times, and are never disappointed."
"Really enjoyed Range Cafe with friends last night. Upbeat restaurant with fun decor and lots of arts and things to look at one the walls. Mix of food options that felt like a new mexico style diner. Spicy shrimp tacos were awesome! The dessert selection and display was a good part of our dinner conversation. The creme brulee did not disappoint. Would definitely swing by here again next time in town and sit more to the bar side to enjoy the music."
