Dave's Valley Grill

"Nice layout and ample seating here. We arrived for lunch during the beginning of the week. The server was nice and helpful. Chips and salsa were crispy, thin and tasty: one highlight of lunch. We ordered a Hot Americano coffee and it was pretty decent, nicely pulled shots again a highlight. Finally we ordered the 4th Street Burgers. The candied jalapenos were pretty sweet. I added green chile but it was certainly lacking in some good NM heat. We did not receive any condiments (mayo, mustard or some sort or sauce to put on the buns)? The onion rings were nicely prepared. Bacon was perfect. My friend ordered his burger medium rare and I ordered mine medium. Unfortunately they were both pretty much made basically the same: well or slightly less than well done. Neither one of them had any real pink and one certainly did not arrive medium rare. The restaurant is pretty nicely styled. I give this visit 3.5 stars due to how burgers were requested and ultimately cooked and due to the lack of spice of the green chile. In my opinion, since the restaurant is in the historic North Valley, it only seems fair to have the green chile spicy as it should be. Nice place to visit and hang out none the less. I will try this place again to try other menu items. Prices are medium, regular."

"I finally got to try Dave's, and I'm glad! I was intrigued by their menu that I read online-a mixture of American, British, and a splash of New Mexican. I wanted to re-experience my time in the UK, but that will need to wait until I return for brunch so I can try the beef short ribs with bubble and squeak. Clean, neat dining room and restrooms with abstract art on the walls and warm, homey decor. Very welcoming energy. Megan is a fabulous server and knowledgeable about the menu. I went on a weekday morning for breakfast, so I beat the rush hour. I had the quiche lorraine with calabacitas, which has squash, corn, red pepper, and onions-moist and well seasoned. The quiche was flaky, buttery, and moist. Excellent coffee! One of the rare restaurants that makes the coffee strong enough for me to enjoy-keep up the great work! Updated: Had the short ribs with bubble and squeak. Meat was moist and flavorful, I had just a little of the potatoes, which had small bits of Brussels sprouts in them. Glazed carrots were good."
