"Did recon for camping next year. The prairie dogs have taken over the center. I expect they will move to margins once campground fills up in the spring. Several bison nearby. Should be an interesting experience when we come back."
"If you are into primitive camping, look no further! It is a first come, first serve camp site. We set up and had to be careful not to set up our tent over a prairie dog hole. When we were unpacking the truck, a buffalo was less than 50ft from the campsite! It was neat to hear all of the coyotes are night as well! The bathroom had no plumbing, just a pit with a toilet. Plan accordingly! The campgrounds were perfect for our camping trip and the views were even better! I can’t wait to return!"
"The location is incredible. There are no "rooms" or "service" to rate. The camp is tidy and toliet was clean and the grassy area with covered picnic tables has prairie dogs living in it. We saw a herd of bison walking across the road driving to this spot and a single bison wandered through camp. This place is a must see!"
"This is by far the best camp ground I have ever been to. Not very often you can wake up with Buffalo all around and prairie dogs every where you look. That aside the bathrooms were the cleanliness ever. I would give it 10 stars if possible. Excellent!!!"
"This campground is incredible. Right in the middle of Badlands National Park, you are surrounded by an amazing landscape and wildlife and at the night the Milky Way is so bright you can take a photo on your phone of it. Walking through the trails was like being in the video game Breath of the Wild. Grasshoppers and prairie dogs everywhere! The Buffalo do roam around -and through - camp. Kind of cool and terrifying - Don’t be stupid when they come close. Back country camping is allowed. This is definitely a good place to park your vehicle and backpack in. Dispersed camping is free - there are about 25 sites. The registry for dispersed camping is at the head of the main loop, across from the first pit toilet. The registry for back country camping is at the back of the loop, near the second pit toilet."
