"Decided to edit my review. I get my health/medical through the VA. There is often times I get asked to provide records from the VA. The VA does not work well at times with "out in town" institutions. There are often delays in getting records. So I cannot fault HPAP for this. Also suggestions from HPAP for medical or mental health issues often are delayed due to the VA. My advice for veterans, ask for care in the community. Local mental health is far easier to work with HPAP than the VA. As addiction goes emotionally, first instinct is to fight the help. HPAP does not have medical professionals to assist in recovery, they are a monitoring entity there to assist getting your professional license back. They can guide you but you must do the work. My advice to you....get your resources in line for mental health when you contact HPAP (and yes, addiction is a mental disorder). If you slip in recovery, report this immediately to HPAP, they can recommend next steps to stay in the program. Let your doctors know you are in the HPAP program. Work the program."
"This program is a life changer. Amanda is really good with mental health issues and very helpful in promoting a positive change. She is tough but compassionate at the same time. Can't say enough good about her and the program!"
"They don't care about your financial or personal situation. They demand a certain amount of money or they threaten to take your licence. They're more concerned about getting their money than your mental health or understanding you. It's pretty sad, my confidence is ruined by constantly feeling like I'm some kind of criminal."
