Birth By Design Doula

"I really loved having Jen as my Doula. Her birth education class really helped me understand the process and different paths births can take. While I was in labor, she was very helpful in helping suggest positions to ease the pain, and helping my husband help me. She also was a great sounding board when I needed to make decisions and a very large comfort to have someone who knew me during the delivery process. I feel like though my labor wasn't quite how I wanted it to go with my ideal scenario, it was made better by having a doula (specifically Jen) and both me and my baby boy are happy and healthy."

"Birth by design is amazing. When I was a first-time mother I stressed out that I would not be able to get the my doctor because they're set on a rotation. I was worried about who would advocate for me if I wasn't able to. Jennifer gave me a piece of mind knowing that my wishes were going to be heard. While I was in labor she was amazing she instructed my husband what to do and kept him involved. I feel the hospital staff was more attentive because she was there. After the birth she was very helpful and checked in. I was able to ask questions and get feedback. She genuinely cares for each family. My baby just turned seven and we are still in contact with Jennifer. She is an amazing person and I would recommend her for everyone."

"I hired Jenn as my doula after moving to Rapid City and I cannot find the words to describe how amazing she was. I had an amazing home birth where she assisted my midwife with everything and I mean everything! She was there for set up and cleanup, she was the one right there helping me through the pushing. She even took some pictures through out the process that are just priceless. Jenn also is really great at making sure you know your birthing options, the birthing process whether you're planning for home, hospital, or a facility birth. I know comparing having Jenn as a doula versus not having one (with my first child) I would take Jenn everytime. There is so much you don't know and if you know it during birth you just tend to get flustered and you're more likely to let anyone else take the reins. I trust Jenn so much more than I would any doctor. I would recommend having her there to champion for you once you get stuck in your birthing head. Love her! She's amazing! So many good things."

"I can’t thank Jen enough for everything she did for us. I can’t imagine not having her there for the birth of our baby boy. It was my first baby so I was very nervous and she was a calming presence that I could count on. I had a tough birth but she was always there encouraging me. I had amazing nurses but understandably they have other patients and therefore sometimes are not in the room for periods of time. I would have been a mess without Jen there telling me to breathe and put me in the positions I needed to be in to move labor along. She is very knowledgeable, caring and supportive. She came to my house multiple times to talk about the birth and how to prepare and what would happen and checked on me after I had my son. She also took amazing pictures and notes that documented this special day. I am so grateful and if you are on the fence about hiring her, just do it!"
