Monument Health Spearfish Hospital Emergency Department

"Dr burry was an arrogant pr***, he assumed because I have chronic back pain that had to be the problem. I came in on the ambulance wailing and thrashing about in pain. So he gives me morphine and when the morphine kicks in I asked him are you going to do any imaging are you a CAT scans or MRI something. He says no it's your chronic back pain I said look man I know my body I know my pain this is not right something is definitely wrong here. He refused to do any imaging at all ...my Angie that's my girlfriend says screw this we're going to the VA as I am a veteran, she asked for an ambulance to transfer us nope she asked for help out, to get me out to the car nope. So I'm barely able to walk she gets me loaded up into the car we go over to the VA first thing to do when I walk the door let's test your urine okay let's get some blood okay. thank God I went to the VA because not only did they find that I had a kidney stone but also found that I have hydronephrosis. I wish I could tell him this personally but maybe some way somehow he'll read this when somebody comes into your emergency room and tells you something's wrong listen to them most people know there body."

"Front desk lady for e.r is extremely rude and disrespectful. Like I get that her job can be stressful but she's just straight up lazy and doesn't know how to do her job . I thought hospital workers were suppose to help people :( I've heard from several other people that the spearfish e.r is very unprofessional. My sibling could barely walk and we called ahead of time because they usually bring out a wheel chair and help us bring him in..didn't happen this time and she rudely told us to get out of the ambulances way which is understandable but no ambulance had arrived at that moment.. so I don't know what her deal was but this hospital need more people who actually care."

"My son went to ER on the night of 8/8/22. When I got there he was laying on the floor crying and moaning and couldn't stand up. He was doubled over. Nurses walked past and didn't acknowledge him. I needed help getting him off the floor and they just walked by like there was no one laying there screaming. I went to the window to just ask about waiting time. I had just got there so I wasn't sure what was going on. A nurse opened the window and 2 nurses started yelling that it would be a few hours. I understand being busy but completely ignoring a 26 year old who was in that condition is unacceptable. I was just trying to ask a question. I called Sturgis er and even though they have a bike rally, they heard him screaming and told me to get him their immediately! He had a large kidney stone! The treatment he received and me getting yelled at when I tried to ask a question is unacceptable!"

"Nurses were awesome. Doctor did not care after determining I wasn't in a life threatening situation seemed to just want me out the door. Had a grill flash burn me from stomach to face both arms and left hand. Did not receive any antibiotic cream or anything despite several burn blisters forming. Complained about when my wife would open curtain because she needed more ice for water to keep rags cool. Was once again very disappointed with the ER doctor at spearfish SD as well as my father and wife that witnessed all."

"The Doctor and Nurses were all very helpful and kind. They fixed my kiddo up quickly and made him calm and comfortable and took the time to explain to him what was going on and why he had so much pain. They are always great. Fast, helpful, great people who know how to get the job done. Thanks!!!"
