"I was following advice in a magazine with the title of 'Tatanka', to explore Wyoming by the back roads and I stumbled on the Bunkhouse late in the day. Friendly people there told me that I could stay and I was their first guest. They were still applying some finishing touches. It was a big layout and with nice modern furnishings. The area was dead quiet at night - no noise from 111. Next day, the owner said pronghorn pass through at that time (Spring, 1996, I think) and, sure enough, there were some visible from the top of a hill after breakfast. The green rolling hills and cheery meadowlarks were memorable, as was the general store in Aladdin. It was a good stop before heading to Yellowstone. Custer's last camp is on the neighbour's farm and Devil's Tower NM is a few miles west. The open pit mine at Gillette was worth a look too."
