Reviews of Wind Cave National Park Visitor Center
"We went on the cave tour- it was amazing and the guide was both knowledgeable and funny. We really enjoyed the tour. After the tour we hiked look out point trail to centennial loop trail. Half the trail is in the woods and half in the prairie. We picked a cool day so temperatures were perfect for this hike. We saw one Buffalo in the distance, but there was fresh poop everywhere on the trail so be aware of Buffalo! We used the All-Trails app for this hike. There were prairie dogs everywhere when we got to the prairie! Adorable."
"Our family had a nice time here. So much to do besides the cave. Our favorite was the Rankin Ridge Trail. Such a nice view and the wind in the pines was so nice! We did the Fairgrounds Tour. Nice length tour & the guide was very knowledgeable. The Box work formations are beautiful. Easy to spend a half to a full day depending on what u do there."
"Located just south of Custer State Park, Wind Cave is a beautiful, if sometimes overlooked area of the Badlands. I saw abundant wildlife and beautiful scenery everywhere. At the northern most part of the park I also hiked up to a fire watch tower. One note: as of later Sept 2023, they were not offering cave tours due to elevator repair. I was told it would be back up by mid/late Oct 2023."
"A must see and experience this wonderful place! Bring your camera and lots of batteries! The vistas are breathtaking and the wild life is too. But please remember this is NOT a petting zoo. It’s a park with real WILD life- they are not in cages or behind fences. It’s their space."
"The park rangers are helpful and informative. If you are trying to buy tickets the day of for a cave tour, you need to get here early. The rangers stated tours usually sell out by noon or early afternoon. If you know what type of tour you want, it is recommended to purchase tickets ahead of time. They have the junior ranger program here. It was busy when we came here on a Sunday. The parking lot had most of the spaces taken. The cave tours are decent, but don’t expect to be wowed if you have been on other cave tours. While there are unique features of this cave, there isn’t a main feature like a waterfall, lake, etc. Just FYI, you do not actually walk into a natural entrance on the Natural Entrance tour."
