"I only saw her a few times over zoom in 2021. She was incredibly dismissive and skeptical of what I was telling her; even though I told her that I had been medicated for depression for years, and she replied, “Are you sure you’re depressed?” and would not take me seriously. She prescribed me Effexor (venlafaxine) but never explained that it is an incredibly difficult medication to quit. I am still experiencing the consequences of antidepressant withdrawal even though I took my last dose of venlafaxine almost two months ago and have switched to other antidepressant medications. I would not have switched from Prozac to Effexor if she had explained this to me in advance. Maybe if you are a white person, you have had/will have a better experience."
