Reviews of Oak Tree Behavioral Services, Inc.
"I would NEVER recommend this practice. The counselling we received was fine but when I had a disagreement about a charge we received, I could not get a hold of anyone and when I finally did, the managing partner was rude, condescending and threatened me. I'm amazed a mental health professional would treat a person this way."
"By far the worst practice I have ever gone to! We have been calling and emailing for weeks woth no reply. And definitely never go to Vicky! My my husband and I were working though some things. I was feeling pretty good about it all. I said I wanted to stop therapy. She then tried to put bad thoughts in my mind. Putting words into my husband mouth. Assuming how he might be thinking, feeling, and acting. She decided to go ahead and try to make me feel worse and put bad thoughts in my mind. Maybe it was so that she could keep the money coming in. Save yourself from this so called therapist that will just try to make your life hell so she can keep a patient!!! They also messed up our billing and tried to charge us $400."
"This review reflects more towards their financial structure and policies. They make you sign a contract saying that you'll have to pay for missed sessions which is understandable. However the first time i called in to cancel a session, i was specifically told that they were lenient and flexible about those fees. My sessions were scheduled for Mondays and was told that it doesn't matter if i call in less than 24 hours prior (as long as it is sometime on Sunday) because they are not in the office on weekends so calling in Sunday vs Saturday wouldn't make a difference. So I did this whenever i needed to cancel, calling in Sunday to give them a heads up. I officially cancelled my remaining sessions the other day and once i did that, THEN they tell me i had hundreds of dollars I owed them for missed sessions dating back 6 months. They actually didn't even tell me about them, they just randomly charged me $100. I called and left a voicemail requesting that someone call me back to discuss it. Not only did i not receive a call back, but instead i got charged another $160 with no explanation, warning or even an email notification. I spoke to someone about it today and am grateful they were willing to meet me in the middle, but i still felt taken advantage of with this. If they hadn't set those expectations with me in the beginning, I would have been much more intentional about when i call in to cancel. If they had even told me i had an outstanding balance from the first time i cancelled, then i would have been better about it moving forward knowing there actually are financial implications. Even if this was brought up in one of my sessions as a "heads up", I would have gotten ahead of this rather than continuing to dig myself a hole worth hundreds of dollars. I feel like i was set up for failure and genuinely wonder if this ever would have come up if i chose to continue my sessions. To put that large of a bill on someone out of nowhere after going to them for mental help felt wrong. I understand it is also a business and we are all doing our best to stay afloat during covid times, but this all could have been avoided with proper communication and expectation setting."
"I found Jessica at their Lakewood location very helpful. She is a excellent listener, has a tremendous amount of positive energy and a great attitude. it's rare that a therapist not only helps you feel better, but also inspires you to be a better person. Highly recommended!"
"On one of my worst mental health days of this year I saw my therapist, Elizabeth Rice. While there I struggled to find words to talk about my feelings which I warned her if that was happening I was struggling the most. Instead of attempting to support me she accused me of “playing games” asked me why I even bothered to come to therapy (because I was trying to get better???) and said I Just wanted her to do all the work and I didn’t want to do anything. All of those things I find incredibly offensive for a therapist to say to a client at any time. When I informed her this would affect my further therapy as she said me struggling to express my emotions was “playing a game” and she said “ok” I am blown away at the way I was treated. This lead to me having a full blown borderline episode where I almost ended up hospitalized. (My therapists was well aware I have bpd and have been hospitalized before) it’s been four days since my appointment and I am still deeply hurt by what she said. Not only did she make my fragile mental health worse but I refuse to see someone who would talk to a client such way so now I have to find a new therapist too. Beyond Elizabeths poor treatment of me the facility itself is nice however no one ever answers the phone. You can only reply to your therapist not message them first and it’s very hard to talk to someone if you need to. (Posted on my boyfriends account bc I don’t have one)"
