"As someone who has been treated for leukemia for over 20 years now, I cannot possibly say this loudly enough: IF YOU HAVE A HISTORY OF CANCER, RUN, RUN, RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN FROM THIS PLACE!!! I am absolutely shocked at the utter lack of competence and compassion shown by the staff of this facility. I have been treated for chronic myeloid leukemia for over 20 years now, but down in Houston where I grew up. I have been in Denver for nearly 16 years. My incredibly competent doctors in Houston told me that I was doing well enough in remission and with my medication that I no longer needed to seek their regular help, and could start getting my medication and yearly blood checks in Denver. So, I recently asked my doctor, also Advent Health, to refer me to a local oncologist for those purposes. About a week ago, I got a call from this office to set up an appointment. I was working at the time, and could not answer. This morning, I left them a message returning their call and asking to make an appointment. This afternoon, well after 5 pm, I got a call from a number I did not recognize. I immediately looked up the number, and saw it was associated with several dental offices, so I assumed it was a spam call. Seconds later, I saw a message, listened, and heard it was from this office, returning my voicemail. I immediately called that number back - less than a minute after I missed its call. No voicemail, immediately went to a "disconnected number" voicemail. So, I called this office. The first couple of time, I spent several minutes going nowhere on an automated voicemail system. The third time. I spoke with someone, told them exactly what had just happened, and they told me that they couldn't connect me because the office was closed and I would need to call back another time. I suppose my first question is: why do they have communication policies if they only apply in one direction? They can call patients 24/7, but if we miss their call by 30 seconds - I suppose it doesn't matter how said cancer might be afflicting us at that point, we're just out of luck? Second question... it's 2024... why are they calling their patients under some kind of guise as a dental office? Is there some kind of concealed intent to not reach us? Do they think that it's healthcare and we're cancer patients so we should just answer any call that comes our way and hope for the best? Heck, we're just invalids, what does our time matter? Third, what kind of intent lies behind calling cancer patients from a number you can't call back? Isn't that at least a tad creepy? Especially when your life depends on making that connection, and then you just get blown off when you immediately call them back. Honestly, this office feels like the oncological equivalent of leaving a bag of flaming feces on someone's doorstep. Anyway, my referring doctor also came from AdventHealth, and that office has gone downhill pretty hard since I became a patient of theirs a few years ago. My sense is that this whole organization just plays a nepotistic role among its staff, and all of their healthcare seems to be half-tushied, at best. Honestly, I will probably end up seeking a new primary care provider over this issue, because they haven't been great and this referral is sorely lacking. If you have had to deal with cancer in the past and have a frame of reference for good vs bad care - please, save yourself the (literal) pain, and quite serious risk of death. Those of us that have these ailments deserve better than these careless money-grubbers, and I really hope anyone who sees this review will look elsewhere to find it."
