"When my relative died in 2022, the personal representative hired Rebecca Nohe Antique & Estate Sale Services to handle the estate sale. Under the will, the children inherited all the personal property in the house. But they were told not to remove anything except those items specifically devised to them, and to leave everything else in the house until the estate sale. In fact, Ms. Nohe insisted that family members could not even enter the house for a couple weeks while she was setting up the sale. Family members waited because they understood that they would have a chance to preview the sale items before the sale date. They also assumed that any unsaleable items would be set aside for them. However, as it turned out, the children were not allowed into the sale before the general public, and they discovered that only a few personal items and photos had been saved for them. Everything else not included in the sale had disappeared! When questioned, Ms. Nohe unapologetically replied that everything had been "donated, disposed, or shredded" -- without even asking the heirs, who were the rightful owners. Among the things that she removed without the family's consent: three metal file cabinets and their contents, including tax records; dishes; small appliances; hundreds of books; linens; utensils; clothing; and sentimental items. Most heartless of all, thirty-six birthday cards that the deceased person had received shortly before death, prominently displayed on the dining room table --where were they? Rebecca Nohe said "They were put in the dumpster!" Although Rebecca Nohe did ultimately hold a somewhat successful estate sale, she brazenly disposed of many, many items of the family's property without their consent. She should not be trusted to handle anyone else's property."
"My mother's will directed that all of her possessions should go to her four children. The executor hired this company to handle the estate sale, telling us that we would be able to choose which items we wanted before the estate sale was open to the public. The executor later told us not to go into my mother’s house until after the estate sale had been completed. We later learned that this company had either discarded or donated many items before the sale without our consent. When we tried to get the company's owner to answer our questions or rectify the situation we were treated rudely. This caused the family a great amount of extra stress after the death of my mother."
"I had 2 simple questions 1. how far out are they booked? 2. how can I get some idea of the costs? Her response "these are not questions I answer over the phone." How the heck can a person consider hiring her if you she won't tell you anything. I know nothing can be exact but give your consumer a rough idea.........disappointed."
