Reviews of Ms Darlene's Child Care
"We love Darlene's daycare! We've used her with our two daughters over the last several years and plan to send our newest when it comes time. She provides a clean, fun and caring environment for the children. She's so genuine and you can tell she loves every child like her own. I always feel confident leaving my kids in her care, I can drop them off without any worry."
"Darlene’s daycare is quite possibly the best place on earth, I was so worried about finding a daycare I trust with all the awful stories out there. She is so kind and incredible to my daughter! She is fair and not only loves my daughter but she so wonderful and teaches her life lessons like sharing and being kind(which I of course enforce at home) she keeps a limited number of kids so she can make sure they don’t get forgotten. And although I wasn’t at the daycare at the same time as the lady above I can tell you my experience with her and her daycare have been nothing but positive and loving…I wish she could teach my daughter all the way through school."
"Both of my kiddos have been going to Darlene’s for the past few years. She is very caring and treats my children as if they were her own. Darlene is very compassionate and a wealth of knowledge. She provides guidance to me as a parent and has wonderful tips on raising children. It’s amazing to see the connection she has with the all the kids. My daughter can be a handful at times, but she shares a special bond with Darlene. I have seen so much behavioral growth from her since being with Darlene. Darlene’s patience and love for my children shows every time I drop them off. They are so excited to see “Mrs. Darlene” and can’t wait to give her a hug. Darlene’s Child Care is a neighborhood treasure. I cannot recommend her enough to any parent."
"From the first day we met Darlene we were making compromises because we were desperate for infant care after the provider we found during pregnancy unexpectedly closed. She only offers care for 7 hours, even though no one has a 7 hour workday. She also kept telling us “I’m allowed to let him cry for 30 minutes.” Well, she isn’t, that’s a violation of state rules and regulations. The day that broke the camels back she called us and said we needed to start letting our child cry it out for 30 minutes or she couldn’t take it anymore, because that’s what she was doing, and we needed to be consistent. Never did she ask what works for him at home or how she could help him, it was Darlene’s way or the highway. If she couldn’t lay him in a pack and play wide awake and have him fall asleep without crying it was too much for her. When we picked him up that day she hadn’t given him an afternoon bottle even though she reported that he started screaming at 1:30 and didn’t stop. He ate 4 ounces less than he usually ate with her. Her response was that my husband showed up 15 minutes early at 3:15 so she didn’t have a chance to feed him….okay. We had other major concerns that day and when I brought them to her attention in alignment with the state rules and regs she had complete nonsense explanations that didn’t make any sense. They were in direct conflict with the reports she had sent home the days before, and he has never come home looking that way before even though she says she did nothing different. She took no accountability, even for lying to us about being allowed to let him cry it out for 30 minutes. Then she terminated us with only 18 hours notice, even though we know she was already planning to terminate for a full 3 days because we got tipped off. She also shared my name publicly with other childcare providers, setting us up to have a very hard time finding new care, which is also a violation of state rules and regs. I’m sure she’s doing fine with the toddlers. If you have a 6 hour work day, a baby who eats exactly 3 hours apart, can nap for 2 hour stretches without being comforted to sleep, and you don’t mind going against AAP media guidelines and letting your child watch TV every day, Darlene is the provider for you! She’s truly taking advantage of how difficult it is to find childcare and thinks she can do whatever she wants. Realistically, I’m sure there’s another family out there who desperately needs infant care and will go against their gut instincts and try to make it work with her very soon. Honestly I want to thank her because I learned SO much about advocating for my child, state rules and regulations, and Colorado Shines. BTW she’s ranked as a one star provider by the state too, her bio saying she’s ranked as a level 2 is also a lie."
