"Opera Colorado is satisfied to do adaptations of operas without advertising as such. Imagine row 5 at The Flying Dutchman and the curtain drops to a bunch of ripped blue jeans, tattoos, army jackets, baseeball caps and microbrews. Nope, its not the coast of Norway in the 1800s; it’s present day NY! Of course, they don’t tell you this on the website where the tickets are purchased because no one would purchase them. So, if you want to see the opera you are paying for you better call first to confirm they’re not playing cheap games."
"A friend gave my daughter and I tickets to the performance . It was our first opera . We fell in love . The singing the dancing were beyond what we expected . The story was compelling and kept us to the last minute . We can't wait to see another show !"
"I didn't necessarily agree with the costuming decisions, but the other staging, and the VOICES, were fabulous. We bought the cheapest seats high up in the balcony and were able to see and hear just great. I will definitely take a look at future productions!"
"OC's Flying Dutchman has solid casting all around. Sent/Marcy Stonikas is spectacular. The chorus is terrific. The conductor/orchestra a pleasure. The women hanging out a bar for the spinning chorus was a nice change--I wish they'd done a shot ever time they sang the word "spin.""
"The venue is is incredible, with terrific accoustics, good sight lines, and comfortable seating. The productions are always very professional with top notch singers and the orchestra is one the best anywhere."
