Nu-Way Watch Repair

"My father purchased this Seiko 6139-6005 in Feb 1971, when they were released. He passed away in Feb 2015 and I found this watch in a box of his stuff. The crown was missing. I gave the watch a few spins and away it went. So I began periodically looking for places to get it repaired. Seiko themselves told me since parts are no longer available through them, if they open it and if it needs anything more than service, they will close it and send it back. About 8 week turnaround just for that. I found a crown and stem assembly online and local repair shop was willing to replace it, but nothing else. The movement was difficult to operate using the crown to set it. Very “gummy.” The day and date settings wouldn’t fall into place and took repeated pushes to operate. The watch seemed to gain about five minutes a week. So I decided I want to get it serviced and if needed repaired. I found James at Nu-Way. He is also a Seiko 6139 aficionado and had many in various conditions so if I needed parts, it shouldn’t be a problem. We drove to Denver and hand delivered it to meet him. Super nice guy. Located in a kind of an off the beat and path location. You might expect a strip mall or shopping center but he is in a business complex. So don’t be fooled, you’re in the right place. We had spoke on the phone and he quoted me a price plus shipping back to me so I knew what to expect and it was very fair considering what options were available. I had the watch back in two weeks and have been wearing it everyday since. Keeping precise time. James can do complete restoration of watches. I elected not to, as I wanted to keep it in the condition as it was from my dad. As you can see, worn but still amazing. James works on most brands of mechanical watches and even does movements replacements on quartz watches if yours fails. He has an assortment of watches for sale and I believe does consignments. So if you’re in the Denver area, need watch work done or are looking for a used or vintage piece for the collection, James at Nu-Way is definitely worth a visit. He also accepts and ships shipped watches if you’re not in the area. We live 5 hours, but made a trip of it."
