Reviews
"I have always loved the Esquire and have come here many times. They show great rerun features and cult films that keep me coming back, not to mention that they serve alcohol! But I wanted to leave a review saying how kind and helpful the staff are. I was here tonight and a friend of mine ram into some health issues because of a new medication. The staff was helpful and kind. They gave us vouchers to return since we missed most of our movie and offered her snacks and ibuprofen to help her feel better. Esquire Staff you’re the best!"
"I believe I’ve been to this theater like 5+ years ago when I first moved to Denver. Love independent films. Haven’t been to movies in 5 years. Came to see Barbie. So aside from independent films, they do show current popular movies. For month of August they were showing Alfred Hitchcock movies. There is a senior discount for age 62 and older of $2. If you join their rewards club, the basic, which is free for an email address, you can watch movies on Tuesdays, year round at $7 a show. Good reason to skip work for a mental health day or during the summer get out of heat. I will say snacks are a little spendy but you can easily spend $17 at McDonald’s. A small drink and small popcorn are around $15. If you are able, it’s nice to purchase the snacks and support this local business. They sell nachos, hotdogs, candy and pretzels. I believe they sell alcohol. I believe they sell coffee as well. Very nice, well kept up for age, clean theater. You need to take stairs to get to top theater. There is also a lower theater. Plenty of parking which is unheard of for the center of Denver. There is even a bike rack and bus station out front of theater. Staff are nice, patient and friendly. Had a really good experience and will be back. Theater is COVID friendly as not a lot of people at once in theater. Room to spread out. Really nice venue for age of building. Reminds me of theaters in the 1970s. Nostalgia. Nice theater to come watch scary Halloween films in fall as well."
"This is my favorite movie theater in Denver, mostly for sentimental reasons. I have seen so many good films here over the years! Besides the films, however, there are many reasons to like the Esquire. The members of the staff are always friendly and helpful. The concessions are diverse and tasty, a bit out of the ordinary. The movie guides and reviews are helpful and interesting. Oh, there is also a fun and free-wheeling midnight movie program. While I haven't gone to that in years, I like that it is available for younger movie-goers (with presumably more wakefulness and energy). And here's my favorite thing: there are usually postcards, bookmarks, or other free goodies pertaining to current or upcoming films. The theatre now has fancy new seats, too! It is one of the smallest movie theaters in the city, but perfect for its neighborhood. It was built in 1927, and was originally called the Hiawatha Theatre."
"Great little theatre but don’t hood the size of the screens against it. This is the kind of gem that Denver is right to boast of. Serves alcohol as well, which is becoming more common across the state at cinemas, but the selections are local craft brews and bottles of wine. The midnight shows are well worth checking out!"
