Reviews
"Lisa is great. Diagnosed my hereditary illness in one visit after listening to my concerns. No other doctor had ever noticed the correlation and had only treated the symptoms. Thanks to NP Swanson I was able to give the other members of my extended family a heads up to be tested. She also spent considerable time with me discussing a treatment plan that could be continued while pregnant/breastfeeding."
"My review isn't about Lisa Swanson but a humiliating encounter at Innovative Health. Lisa is one of the best providers I've had. I refer anyone looking to establish care with her. She is Outstanding in her profession. I waited a week to have a visit with my provider. I have a Respiratory infection and just needed Lisa to take a look because It's the 3rd week and I was concerned about maybe having pneumonia. I can't stop coughing. I was early for my appointment. I explained to the receptionist that my new insurance didn't start until the first of the month and I didn't have the money to pay for my visit for a few days. The receptionist walked back to whom I assume is the office manager. Instead of showing me simple courtesy by getting up of her chair to come speak to me with any sort of compassion. In a elevated voice over her cubicle she embarrassed me by saying I wouldn't be seen unless I had money or health insurance, I would not be seen by my provider. While I completely understand this is a business and it requires money to be successful. I'm also a Level 1 trauma Paramedic but also an Adjuct Professor that teaches Paramedicine. The first week of any course I teach is always patient compassion. When I'm on Life Flight, I'm seeing patients on their worst day. I am also SANE (sex Assault certified) After leaving after my appointment was canceled and I was told by the office manager to make an appointment again when I had money or insurance. I left humiliated and very sick. I thought about a few scenarios where I've actually have been the provider. As administrators, I think they forget the " Human element" This woman didn't even consider the totality of circumstances. What if I were a young woma that was being Assaulted at home and the only person I trusted to ask for help was my provider? What if I were a high school student being bullied and cutting and causing myself harm and my last cry for help and the only deciding factor before taking my own life was that final interaction with another human was to be denied access to my provider and sent away humiliated and felt I wasn't worth the 3 minutes to get her a@s off her chair and followed through with taking my life? I am none of these things, but what if I were? I can tell you exactly what happens because The same thing happened to my patient when I responded for the non profit suicide Coalition I sat on the board of and on the L.O.S.S team that responded after a 12 year old girl was denied access with her providerand Hanged herself an hour later in her closet. I cut her down but had 1 person showed this child one iota of basic human kindness that day, She would be graduating this Spring. Her mom was on the couch shooting Heroin. To an office manager this small girl was turned away away because she didn't know how she would pay for her visit and didn't have insurance. Molly left that practice humiliated again and felt she had no one in the entire world that thought she mattered. It was her last attempt ever at choosing life. Many things failed her that day. She didn't feel like there was any other choice. We have to be better Humans. Not every sing moment in this life is a financial transaction. Will I stop seeing My awesome provider? No way. Would I ever reach out for help to that specific woman? Absolutely not. Kindness costs nothing."
