Reviews of Jewell Park Apartments
"Run by absolute slum lords. The laundry and shared areas are absolutely disgusting. I have to go to a wash and dry place since the washers and dryers make my clothes stink. The trash dumpster is usually overflowing. The appliances and condition of the apartments have not been updated since the 1980s. They are constantly turning the water off to do "repairs". Not just the hot water but all water so I can't even wash my hands or have drinking water and we aren't notified until after the fact. They also recently raised my rent by $300 making it not worth it to rent here"
"Grossest apartments I've ever lived at. Moved in from out of state so didn't look at it first. The basement is basically a meth den and the local news was recently here to investigate the rat infestation to name a few."
"BED BUG PALACE, the place has a HUGE bed bug problem, people constantly toss their furniture out by the dumpster forget about having decent furniture it will be overtaken by this pest and the fact that almost everybody has dogs cats and other pets only makes it worst, the only thing i got left that's bed bug free is my dining table and 2 chairs, the bed had to be thrown away along with a new set of couches, we sleep and sit on the floor, we've tried our best to keep them at bay but they will come out the wall sockets under the carpet and every imaginable gap or crack in the building they're basically everywhere our only hope is to try to keep em off with chemicals to have a decent nights sleep, this property is managed by wheelhouse and they're pretty much powerless on the issue the final word is done by the building owner which I'm sure gives a damn about it and all it cares for is to cash-in from this pit! god help us"
"Dangerous and misrepresented, this complex is locked in a death spiral ever since Boutique/Wheelhouse bought it. The "pool" is a disgusting swamp of trash, algae, and mosquitoes. I was told when I moved in around March that there was a crack in the foundation and it would not be repaired, and yet it was sold to me by the leasing agent (as well as on numerous websites all over the web) as an amenity. Same with the "work out room" and "clubhouse": If you call four obviously broken and dangerous workout machines, a corkboard and a soda machine a "workout room and clubhouse", you'll love it here. Smoke-free? The grounds are littered with butts and management has placed "butt bins" to dispose of them right next to the entryways, which only encourages the practice. Pet friendly? The grounds are littered with dog feces and management has not provided any sort of pet waste disposal stations, like you might see in public parks. Safe? Hardly. One of the two points of entry was permanently unlocked for the first two months I lived there. There are no cages over the windows in the basement and the door does not lock, so there is a homeless encampment in the corner. I was told that installing an egress window that is up to fire code so people can exit in a fire but keep strangers out would be "too expensive". I guess my safety costs too much. It also costs too much to recharge the fire extinguisher in the basement. Or to patch up the GAPING HOLE in the ceiling that sat there for weeks, rain freely entering the building. (It is finally fixed now...but how could an employee not look up and see SKY for over three weeks?? That is when I first discovered the hole, as I do not live on that floor. It could have been open for much longer, but that is just speculation.) Pest-free? They don't even bother putting screens or locks on the common windows to keep insects out. Laundry facilities? One of the three washing machines is almost always broken, and despite their efforts to fix it, it never sticks. There is a fourth hookup but they've decided not to put another machine there, so there are typically only two washers to serve 33 units. Utilities included? Having spoken to other residents, I wasn't the only one who was misled by leasing staff about this. Yes, you pay $50/mo for utilities. Those are only "shared utilities". This facility has a water wasting program, so you pay for leaks that you can't even see. And then you get to pay the meter on your own unit. Plan on spending another $50-100/mo to Xcel. Don't bother calling or emailing staff. I've never called fewer than three times in a row before someone picked up; one time, I called ten times before a person picked up. I was promised multiple times that they would report the various maintenance issues, and I have those promises in writing. Not once did they direct me to the online maintenance request portal. When I found it on my own, I made the requests online and suddenly I saw the beginning of results. The maintenance person I spoke to told me that was the first time they had EVER heard of these concerns. Either the staff is so incompetent that they cannot follow up on simple emails, or I've been lied to since I arrived. Even the building owner has lied to me on multiple occasions, in writing, about when maintenance issues will be addressed and what steps he personally has already taken. For the love of dog, please don't live here! They've already tried buying me out of my lease to get me to shut up."
"DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!! The worst place I've lived in my life! Bats infest the attic & black mold is everywhere but they will just paint over it. Although if you like the smell of meth & animal urine this is the place to call home."
