Reviews of H&R Block
"I wish I read the google review before choosing to work with this HR block location for my 2022 taxes. From start to end, my tax preparation services were a complete disappointment. I booked a virtual appointment around 1 month prior to the 2022 tax filing deadline. Shortly before my appointment, I was informed that the tax advisor had a conflict and my appointment was rescheduled to be days prior to the filing deadline. I was concerned about this, but assured it was plenty of time. On the day of my appointment, I waited over half-an-hour on an empty video call before anyone showed up. They hadn't reviewed any of the W-2s, statements, etc. I submitted weeks in advance and I watched them slowly fill out my taxes, while I had to point out the mistakes made along the way. I was told the tax advisor would submit them and I could approve them later that day. I waited, nothing. I called, no reply. Another day passes. Finally tax day comes and I can get someone on the phone, who says they are very busy since it's tax day, but they'll get to my taxes eventually. In the end, I receive an email that my taxes are ready to review and approve 75 minutes before the tax filing deadline HR Block advertises on their website to have a tax pro file for you for $89. They also advertise transparent up front pricing. I didn't experience either. I was charged $474 for tax filing and this was not disclosed until 75 minutes before I needed to submit my tax return. Without enough time to figure out an alternative, I paid the fee. I called HR block to complain about the disappointing service and was given the runaround for weeks. I was offered a $50 refund for bad experience, which is pretty maddening when I was charged almost $400 more than I expected. So in the end I strongly recommend finding another tax service. And if you do work with the Broadlands HR Block, expect to pay around $500 and make sure you get it done months in advance to be safe."
"I used HR Block for several years to file fairly straight forward tax returns. Never again. Not only did they miss my April 15th deadline, forcing me to file an extension (I never have missed a tax deadline!) and submit payment to avoid penalty fees…they never finished filing my taxes and blamed it on both IT issues, then the accountant, different departments, etc. They then wanted me to pay an additional $460 at one point to have them try to file again. (In addition to rover $240 I already spent!) When I refused, they tried to say I could have a credit to filing taxes next year rather than refund what I paid. When I explained how absurd it would be to give them more money to do something they couldn’t do to originally they didn’t give me another option. Forget ever being able to get a hold of anyone at this location by phone or an email. Communication through their portal was intermittent at best. I spent countless hours since April, documented calls to HRBs 800 Numbers, was hung up on multiple occasions, and tried escalating in order to get a refund for service that was never rendered. On one attempt, I literally was transferred to 9 different people (having to explain the situation each time) over two hours and I thought I was close to resolving this never ending saga. After making it to an actual Escalation Department, they gave me Joseph from this office who did contact me after that. He promised me my “refund was on the way” and then told me a month and a half later that their accounting needed more proof of what I purchased from them even though I showed statements and an emailed receipt. I’ve never had a more disappointing customer experience and feel scammed out of so much money and time. I’ve given up on ever getting my money back. All I have left as retribution is sharing my experience publicly and hope it deters one individual from having to endure what I went through. Thankfully, I didn’t waste additional time waiting for them to file my return otherwise I would’ve missed the extension deadline as well. Instead I used Turbo Tax of all things. It was easy breezy. Save your money, time, and sanity—file anywhere but here."
"Such a disappointment this year after getting my taxes done for the last three years here. Tax preparer was very overwhelmed and after two hours for a one hour appointment I left with my taxes not finished. A week later and after I sent several messages and emails she finally contacted me to let me know they were finished.Thankfully I asked to verify she had paid them electronically like we had discussed and she even put in my bank information the day I had my appointment, she hadn’t done that either. She then proceeded to tell me how I could get online and pay them. With no itemized receipt or cost explanation -even after I made several phone calls to the office manager . Joseph Figueroa, could he explain why I owed $690. He was not helpful at all. They advertise up front, transparent pricing. This is false advertising. After almost two weeks, I’m still waiting to hear from the district manager. I feel I was way overcharged and have spent a lot of time just trying to communicate with them. No one ever answers the phone and when they do they are rude and very unhelpful. This office is horrible and probably should be shut down. Obviously the management is clueless."
"I have gone to this office for over 7 years and this will be my last year going. I use to see Karen Jackson and I went to her every year except this year due to her retiring (so happy for her but now more than ever). I was given a new advisor name Judy Ackley. I can't begin to express how rude and unhelpful this advisor was. I am unsure if she needs to retire as well but I am very disappointed by the service I received from her. She made it very obvious that she was not paying attention to what she was doing. Communication that was given via email she still somehow misread and made mistakes. Communication in general with her was non existent. When I confronted her about the mistakes she made it was apparent she didn't care. When I was able to get her on the phone to correct the mistakes she made, she proceeded to raise her voice and argue with me and say I was to blame. Judy is just one reason why I won't be returning. My nest reason is one of the receptionist by the name of Carolyn. She was completely unhelpful and just as rude as Judy. I was lied to by her several times that either my messages we not coming through or that Judy or "someone" would be getting back to me in regards to my "concerns" (my concerns beings the mistakes done on my taxes or how my taxes were submitted before I signed any documentations). I want note that the when I finally picked up my paperwork due to the mistakes and lack of communication given by this office when I walked in I seen Carolyn she gave me that nastiest look of disgust. She honestly made me feel like she was discriminating me because of my race. I had politely requested my paperwork that the Office Manager Carolina Bustos (who I had finally got to speak with over 72 hours later) told me would be at the front desk for me to pick up. Expecting this visit to be a simple pick up and leave the receptionist Carolyn made rude comment for all to hear "WE MAILED OUT YOUR DOCUMENTS, YOU DID NOT NEED TO COME HERE AND GET THESE!" I turned and walked out and I wanted to cry. I could not be more upset by the customer service by this office. I highly advise to go to a different H&R block."
"While we really enjoy our rep Vivian, your prices are ridiculous! We will not return. We paid almost $400 and had a simple return, a little interest from our home and that was it. We are already in a high tax bracket. Just because we earned More this year, should not make the cost of the same return as making less, double in what you charge ! We feel gouged and ripped off by the high fees! Even $200 is too much but we were and had been willing to pay that for the peace of mind - but now NO WAY and we are telling others you are ridiculous with your fees! We are recommending local people we know who are CPAs and charge less! You lost our biz! Call Brenda French, CPA in Broomfield"
