"Dropped in for lunch today and loved it! Homemade, fresh, and a great change from usual lunch fare. One pupusa (served with a tangy slaw and tomato sauce) was the perfect size for lunch. 12 year old kid loved the bean and cheese one. Highly recommend!"
"Oh.my.goodness. This place is amazing. I don't know if it's a hidden gem or if people are hoarding the knowledge so it doesn't become too popular, but if you're reading this and wondering whether to try it for the first time, get off your phone and go get you some delicious Salvadoran food! Thanks to another reviewer who raved about the mixto, I knew the pro move was getting a little bit of everything. I'm honestly not even sure what all I ate, but I know it was out of this world and so different from other flavor profiles you commonly encounter. I had to look up their story, and I just want to say: Mission accomplished, ladies! "The main goal when opening Pupusas Lover was to make customers feel welcome, cozy and excited to try something new, make them feel like they are in our home and share a little bit of our culture." If you're wanting takeout, they do a fantastic job of packing things up so everything is still delicious and the right texture when you get home. It's not fast, but it's also not "fast food", so pickup might be better than ordering at the counter. No other suggestions other than don't forget the sweet corn tamal, whatever you do!"
"This is seriously the best restaurant in boulder! It is so authentic and so yummy! After a papusa you leave feeling the happiest full you have ever been! give it a try!"
"We were looking for something unique and ran across this place. Having never had Salvadorian food, we didn't know what to expect. My wife got the large papusa with 6 ingredients. I got the borchito with a cheese and a chorizo papusa. It was all very yummy, we enjoyed the food. It is just a small hole in the wall, but clean and nice. Staff was helpful and agreeable. We will be back."
"Up until I first went to Pupusas Lover 2 for the first time a few weeks ago, my experience with pupusas was limited to the Boulder Farmer's Market. (I've been known to order a pupusa there when the other stands don't look great, and I've neither been wowed nor disappointed.) We went to Pupusas Lover 2 in an attempt to cater to my vegan mother and carnivorous husband. I was relieved to see that the menu is more than amenable to vegans. My mom and I ordered pupusas, and my husband got the churrasco. "Love at first bite" is an understatement for the reactions around the table. Papusas Lover 2 serves pupusas that are NOTHING like the farmer's market pupusas. These pupusas are made with a delicious masa, and the fillings are delectable ... I especially loved the frijoles, queso, and loroco. My husband was freaking out over the churrasco, which had thin, well-seasoned meat that reminded him of the stuff he grew up eating in Peru. Since then, we've been back three times. We're slowly trying other dishes, though it's difficult not to order our favorites. Today, we ordered a mixto platter, and it was *absolutely incredible*. I think that's what I'd start with if I were new to the restaurant! My husband liked the sweet corn tamale so much that he ordered a second one for dessert. The platter was the perfect mix of sweet and salty, and could easily feed three people with a considerable appetite. As far as take-home goodies, my husband and son both really like the rice cookies. They're a little bit dry (intentionally), and they taste like a lot like the cookies that are popular in Peru. My favorite is the quesadilla, which is a cheese pound cake. It's not much to look at, but it tastes incredible, especially if you like rich desserts that aren't cloyingly sweet (e.g. cheesecake). I have to include a little note about how sweet and accommodating the staff is. We always come in with our two young children, and despite any havoc those two kids might cause -- spilled water/coleslaw, running around the restaurant, etc., everyone is super nice to us. Today, when the water was spilled, someone came over immediately with a mop and a reassuring smile. This is a great place for families. TL;DR: Stop hemming and hawing, and go eat at Pupusas Lover 2. As soon as possible. You won't regret it."
