Reviews of Audience of One Youth Theater
"Our daughters love AO1. Our 10 year old is about to wrap up her 4th show with ao1 and our 8 year old is on her 3rd show. They have learned so much and have improved tremendously. They are always so eager to get to rehearsals and come home with the biggest smiles on their face. They even did the audition camp this summer and learned so much, we couldn't believe how helpful the camp was in preparation for their next auditions. So happy we found an amazing youth theater company for our kiddos."
"NOT AS PROMISED, ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE NEW TO THEATRE: I have two kids that are new to youth theatre. The Ao1 program offered an audition summer camp with the intention to equip them with the confidence and skills necessary to audition with both a monologue and song to nail their best audition. What I as a parent was welcomed with, was a pre-camp assignment to send with both of my children 3 monologues each and 3 audition songs each in preparation for the weeklong camp. The expectation was that the program theatre professionals would help my children choose the best monologue and song. As a parent new to this space, I found it odd to pay $500 for both of my children to attend an audition camp that promised to help them have the best monologue and song ready for an audition, yet had me do the work of finding these materials. I scoured the internet for hours to try and find audition monologues and songs for my kids to bring. I even paid to download songs since I did not have them handy, and also paid for a writable CD to burn the music on since the camp instructed me to do so. Fast forward to the week of the camp. The program had CD players on site which they refused to use. Instead, they used ad-supported YouTube to find the songs (which I already burned to a CD as instructed to). I paid $500 for tewo kids to attend a weeklong strung together camp, and you can’t even pay for ad-free youtube or Spotify, Apple Music, etc?! My children were also criticized for their choices of monologue, yet I was asked to send them with the material. One main reason we elected to do this program was with the impression our kids would be provided with appropriate material to use in an audition. What a failure. And then the self righteous attitude of staff and the program director and program boad president was the icing on top. Nothing but deflection and justification that the program was top notch, without even humoring that perhaps they had failed and could have done better. I will tell you this, you could have done much better and provided actual value for what I paid for this program. I see this camp as a reflection of this organization as a whole, and I would recommend others to stay away from this program, or at least take a closer look at the program as a whole."
"DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY! I did a summer camp this summer, it was so bad my kids wouldn’t return after 3 days $500 wasted. It was thrown together, not professional at all. The worse part was how the Director and board president treated my concerns, they wouldn’t listen or even consider they may have done anything wrong. What they did do was tell me how great and professional they were. This is the 3rd theater program we have done and by far the least professional. I highly recommend Joyful Light Theater. Stay away from this place."
"A wonderful theater program that focuses on producing quality children's theater. Great staff who love the children in their program, qualified directors who challenge the children, and a solid community of good kids. Would highly recommend for anyone seeking a Christian Children's Theater program."
"This is a pic of the West Bowles Community Church chapel under construction. It is now finished and beautiful. Come and see the first performance since completion, Fiddler on the Roof, presented by Ao1 youth theater group."
