"I went to this acting school for 3 years of my life when I was 12-14 and I am now 19 and I can say confidently that it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I came out of having developed stage and social anxiety because the director never gave me a chance. The enriching roles where you actually get to act and be a part of the show were given to the same people every time. Despite my parents begging with the people to give me a chance to actually be a part of the show, they refused. I found better opportunities and acknowledgment at other acting schools."
"This is my daughter's second year with the Actor's Academy at RMTK and it is truly her happy place. We joined in order to give her more acting and audition experience and it has been amazing to see her transformation. Her confidence on stage and the skills she's learned both in her acting majors classes and during shows have been invaluable to her. This most recent season has been especially amazing with a new director and a smaller, more close-knit group of kids. These kids are like family and the spring show just blew me away! Thank you to all the staff for your support and love for my kid!"
"My son has been participating in Rocky Mountain Theatre for Kids (RMTK) summer camps since 2016 and the Actor's Academy for the Performing Arts (AAPA) since 2017, and I am so impressed by how much he has learned and how much he has grown as a person through his theater experience at RMTK. From special workshops (on everything from perfecting auditions to puppet-building!) to theater lab (stage combat training was one of his favorite concentrations!) to the shows themselves, he has received a wide range of musical theater experiences over the years from very talented instructors. His voice has improved immensely through his AAPA vocal major lessons with Becca Spence, and his confidence both on- and off-stage has really soared. Honestly, one of our top family memories of 2019 was seeing him as part of the immensely talented cast of “Newsies” last summer – we were blown away by the level of acting, singing and choreography in that show!! He has really found his “tribe”, and we as a family have enjoyed getting to know other AAPA/RMTK families through opportunities like the BDT Community Day and helping behind the scenes at the shows. We highly recommend RMTK/AAPA and are grateful to have found such a wonderful program!"
"We LOVE RMTK and AAPA. My daughter started attending when she was 5 years old and is now 12. We have attended 5 years of Actors Academy and 7 years of multiple summer programs/shows of RMTK. It has completely supported my daughter with quality instruction and guidance. It has helped open my daughter to dynamic social situations and awakened her love for singing, dancing and acting. She has an amazing friend group she has built through these programs as well! Three cheers for an amazing organization!!!"
"3 of my kids have participated in summer camps and one has been involved with the Actor's Academy for several years now. The staff is caring and professional, the kids LOVE going to rehearsals and participating in the shows, and the performances are excellent. Highly recommend for kids wanting to develop their musical theater chops, and do check out a show sometime even if you don't have anyone on stage - they're well worth the time and money!"
