"I'm doing much better thanks to Dr. Checa and his staff!"
"The visit was not for me, but for my mother-in-law. It was her initial visit. I was not able to attend the visit but was called during her visit to inform me of his findings, things he'd like to change, tests he'd like to run. I'm told the visit was very thorough, not rushed, very informative and Dr Checa was an 'interested party' to her care."
"Dr. Checa cares about you. He pays attention to small details and he listens to you attentively. And the staff at MD Pain? Beyond any doubt, absolutely the best in Colorado!!!"
"I was referred to this Dr Checa and was told all I needed for workman’s comp was a faxed authorization. After calling and no answer as they never answer their phones and I never once got a return call. A month of waiting to see this doctor the receptionist Debra told myself and others calling for me she was waiting for my faxed authorization. After almost a month that was determent to my health and my constant pain the approval is faxed Debra tells us they don’t except workman’s comp. This woman Debra lied to 4 ppl that continued to call for me to get an appointment if they Infact did not take workers comp why did she put me on a wild goose chase and make me endure a months wait? This treatment is appalling for a doctors office and I pray no one ever has to endure what I just had to with this horrific experience. If you try to go to this office you can’t get an appointment as Debra doesn’t answer the phone nor does she return calls or she just selectively didn’t return 5 of mine."
"Epitome of Over-charging How can Dr. Checa feel good about what he is charging? I was referred by a spine doctor to Dr. Checa for an epidural steroid injection. Because my health insurance plan has an HRA fund, I asked his office how much they would charge for services. Since I also had so many questions about the procedure, Melissa (in the office) suggested I set up a consultation before the procedure. She said that it would be $168, plus $80 for a drug test. I thought that was okay, although I was taking nothing more than OTC pain relievers. So I had my consultation with Dr. Checa on June 11, 2018. He told me I didn't need the injection and gave me a few ideas to try. Then a couple weeks later (June 27) I checked our account and saw that I had been charged $1258.13 for that visit. With the adjustment he was paid $544!! I called their office and left a message about that, thinking it was surely a mistake and they had charged me for the procedure. A week later (July 3) they still hadn't returned my call. My husband called and was sent to Brittany in AZ who told him that's what they charge all new patients. I couldn't believe that so I called again, talked to someone in the office (Alex?), who transferred me to Melanie in CO. She gave the same answer, even after I explained how I had been quoted $168 for the consultation. She said that was the "cash price", that he is a specialist, and that is their contract with UHC. I was dumbfounded!!! How can Dr. Checa feel good about that?!? When I talked to Melissa she knew I had insurance. Perhaps Dr. Checa feels he's only swindling the insurance company, but this is money set aside for our family's healthcare. We called the UHC fraud line, and they said there's nothing they can do about it. So we're stuck! Dr. Checa got paid $544 for a 25 minute consultation. This is a sad example of why healthcare costs are so expensive. In response to the other google review below (entitled CAUTION), apparently Dr. Checa DOES get paid even if he doesn't do an injection. Be careful at this office! In conclusion, to be absolutely fair and transparent, Dr. Checa gave me an idea that seems to be helping (not solving) my problem. It's too soon to tell. But for that, he gets 1 star. Sep. 18 edit: His recommendation helped a little temporarily, but it is evident it is not solving my problem."
