Reviews of Colorado Ballet
"Jekyll and Hyde was exceptional. The set, costumes, the orchestra and especially the dancers. The reason I could not give 5 stars was the hooting , howling and stomping in the audience. Unfortunately, the magic that was created by the company was constantly disrupted by thoughtless attendees. Colorado Ballet, please insist your audience by respectful with their applause, as you expect them to not talk or use their cellphones."
"Today I saw The Nutcracker as performed by the Colorado . It was simply magical . Beautiful and impressive dancing to live symphonic music. Stunning costumes that enhanced the movement of the dancers with the way they moved. The show was the timeless classic you expect with some modern moves thrown in that match the zeitgeist of our specific time in history. The energy of the crowd in the gorgeous Ellie Caulkins Opera house was amazing, laughing, clapping, cheering. Fantastic way to spend a Friday night and earn some money! If you have not seen the Colorado Ballet"s Nutcracker yet, I highly recommend it. They also have a very interesting season coming up like Jekyll and Hyde. I know the Colorado Ballet also works hard to make the ballet accessible by providing sensory friendly performances as well as other accessible experiences like audio described performances where you can have what is going on described live and listen to the audio. I believe Colorado Ballet also does a significant amount of out reach trying to bring ballet to everyone and performing matinee performances for schools and even visiting schools."
"Fantastic training institution with caring and professional educators. They offer classes for all ages, a pre-professional division, workshops and intensives. The relationships a dancer can build here and the skills they can learn will prepare them for a future in dance! Please note that Colorado Ballet (professional company) and Colorado Ballet Academy (ballet school) are not the same, even though they are under the same roof and they work together. The professional company sometimes gives performance opportunities to Academy students and those students sometimes feed into the company when their training reaches a certain level. I am seeing a lot of reviews here about the company and issues with the business office or the performance venue, and not the Academy--which is probably confusing and misleading to people looking for information about the educational aspect of this nonprofit organization which contributes to the cultural community in Denver in a number of ways."
"My daughter goes here for ballet classes and I have picked up adult classes too. Such a friendly yet disciplined ballet academy. Instructors are nice and helpful. Love their productions! I see my daughter attending this for many many years!"
"Great ballet company in Colorado. As someone who loves ballet but has only seen the Nutcracker several times, I was happy to learn upon moving to Denver that they have a ballet company which every year comes out with a full season comprised of classics as well as new works. I first saw the company perform at the Arvada Center for their "Evening Under the Stars" in which they danced selections from past seasons as well as some teasers from the current season. I finally got the chance to see a full performance when I went to see Alice in Wonderland at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Amazing show, funny and entertaining while also displaying the amazing talent and athleticism of the dancers. The sets were very creative and the orchestra was great too. It was great show for both adults and kids and I am not surprised to learn the performances were sold out. Now I can't wait to catch Swan Lake for next season!"
